You completely nailed it! I agree 99.9%. My husband and I are still living there for another 6 months. They just raised everyone's rent and there are a lot of people that have moved out. We are fortunate and they didn't raise our rent too much. We felt that it was unfair to give us such short notice on them raising our rent but when they orginally gave us notice, it $90 more than what we were paying. We felt rushed to find something and then we found out that it was only being raised $20 a month. So, we decided to stay another 6 months and find a rental house or something until we can get our credit fixed up to buy.
We have met the best neighbors we have ever known living here and they have since moved out. :( They, like us, have been dealing with an over-crowded, one bedroom (flat) apartment that has more than 3 men living in it that on a constant basis, take up too many parking spots with their 5 cars and leave beer bottles and trash all over the place. The management has yet to really deal with that problem. Especially since there is only one person on the lease.
There have been A LOT of people that have moved out lately. There aren't as many people not picking up after their animals, that I have noticed.
It's been quiet for about the last month or so. Right after the 3-4 break ins, 2 cars were stolen and a guy went crazy with some people that were moving in and pulled a gun, he was arrested that night and bailed out the next day. Apparently, the people that were moving in parked their truck on the sidewalk and almost hit his brand new car plus his young daughter was out riding around that area. He didn't shoot anyone, but it's still crazy to do something like that. He bonded out of jail the next day. We now have a security officer that patrols a couple of times a night between 6p & 6a. He was put on duty the week after the guy pulled the gun.
Our dishwasher flooded the apartment the 2nd night that we lived here and it's obvious that it wasn't the first time that has happened. The dishawasher still leaks but isn't too unmanageable.
Overall, it's not the worst complex that we have lived in. I grew up in Plano and still feel relatively safe here. Just like anywhere you live, you have to keep your eyes open and not take anything for granted, like strange cars/people. Be aware of your sorroundings. The insulation is really good and the only thing we ever hear is the neighbors faucets.
