We spent a good six to eight months looking for an apartment, and when we saw the upgraded model apartment in this complex (vaulted ceilings, BERBER CARPET, gas fireplace, stainless steel appliances, and faux granite countertops) we thought, wow, THIS is the place for us! The carpet is REALLY what sold me on this apartment, since at my last one we had the generic beige apartment complex carpet that doesn't keep well after about five vaccuumings. So we apply, put down our deposits, get all of our stuff ready to move, took off work...we all know how much of a hassle that stuff is.

Well, a week before were scheduled to move in, my boyfriend calls the complex asking if we could see our particular unit so he could take measurements for the furniture. They said yes, but it's not quite finished being upgraded, but go ahead. So we go in, and guess what' No berber carpet. The first time we saw the model, we told the agent how much we LOVED the carpet, because we hated the old one, and even went into detail about it. Well guess which carpet we have' The same old beige, nasty, cheap stuff. Not to mention the sliding glass door in my bedroom that leads to the balcony was SMASHED, and there was glass everywhere. So we take both complaints to the office, and our agent says theres nothing she can do about the carpet because she didn't know they changed it. She offered us an accent wall for free (which we politely declined because we had been planning on painting ourselves and had already purchased our supplies) but other than that said there were no other options.

So we move in anyway, get all the painting done...and when we go to clean the brushes...no hot water, and no water pressure either. Literally just a trickle from all the faucets, AND the shower. So we go to the office AGAIN, and they don't come to fix that for at least two days. We finish moving in, and when I went to get a glass of water from the sink...it was this weird, milky color. Never seen anything like it. So I call the emergency maintenance hotline, because it was around 10 p.m., and the guy says he'll come fix it in the morning, and to just let it run and see if it clears up. He comes the next morning, says something about the water heater, says he'll fix it. I come home from work and the water is still murky. So I call the office, and they tell me that it's Plano water and that's how it's supposed to be. Well I've lived here 20 years and NEVER seen it like that. Neither have my parents. The office refused to come out and look at it, so I called the fire department to look at my water heater...and they said someone had done a horrible job with the saudering and it needed to be redone...and that I should call the health department about the water because it definitely didn't look right. So I try talking to the office AGAIN, and AGAIN they tell me it's normal, that's how it's supposed to be, and "why do you expect everything to be perfect, this complex was built in 1996." No kidding, that's a direct quote. I don't expect perfection, but since I AM paying for this upgraded apartment, I do expect decent customer service and clean drinking water, neither of which I have gotten. So finally, about a week later, I go in and ask to talk to the manager who's been on vacation, and SHE chews me a new one for calling the fire department and the health department over "normal water"!!! She then tells me it's just air bubbles, and treats me like I'm an idiot. Even if it IS air bubbles, no one told me that, no one bothered to come look at it for at least five days, so how am I supposed to know it's okay to drink''

Maybe I caught her on a bad day or something but the way she talked to me was practically abuse, and I was extremely polite to her even though I'm really tired of dealing with this, and I've only been here about two weeks.

On top of all that, I asked her about the carpet and she said since I didn't come to her before I signed the lease, it was my fault I was unhappy with it.

All in all, from my perspective....if you want anything done around here you have to do it yourself, and don't expect any help from the office, because they are crazy.

EDIT

Okay so I wrote a previous review about how unpleasant it has been here. First off I want to state that I love my actual apartment, and besides the functionality of it, it is a beautiful apartment.

However, since we moved in, every time we turn on the gas fireplace, the whole apartment smells like gas within a matter of seconds, so we just turn it off. Well the other day I got chilly and thought maybe that was just the smell it gave off when you haven't used it in a while, so I just sucked it up and turned it on and tried to wait out the smell. Then the fire alarm went off. I quickly turned off the fireplace and opened a window, and the alarm stopped. So I called the maintenance guy, and he came while I was at work, supposedly checked it out, and left a work order saying it was fine. Well, we tried the fireplace later, and it did the same thing, so I had my boyfriend poke around in the chute, and guess what he finds''' Wadded up clothes. In the chute. I don't know how the maintenance guy missed that one.

Can anyone say fire hazard'''

my water was BROWN when i moved in and it happened again a few weeks ago. i called the emergency maintenance and he said the same thing. just run the water and he would come look monday when he got the chance. i will only drink bottled water now, and i had to go to a friend's house to shower over the weekend.

So what did the Health Department say about the water? Is your water normal, what did they say it is? You say you have not gotten clean water yet, did the health dept come test, or check it out? I don't want to move there if the water is not drinkable. Did they make you move in with the glass door broken, or was it one of the things that wasn't complete yet? I know from experience that before I sign a lease I make sure I walk my new apartment, and if I had found different carpet, I would have asked for another one, or not signed, did you ask if there was a different apartment with that other carpet? I have lived in lots of apartments and I have been mad at plenty of old managers, so the personality issues are not my concern, mostly when I am nice and follow the rules, everything is ok. These other issues I am interested in, please respond, thanks.

It must just be some apartments. My neighbors don't have a problem but one of my friends in the complex looks just like mine. We just got those brita water filters though. Oh well.

Wow, that's really weird. I have lived here for a year and have never had a problem with the water and I drink it (from the faucet) all the time. Sounds like you just had a bad experience. :(

Thanks for taking the time to share your experience. I hope everything works out well for you. I WILL NOT be moving here.

I would have to agree about the water it happened to me when I moved in and they said the same thing it just air bubbles. Gross. Plus I have to complain multiple to get anything fixed.
