This is long, but worth reading.
If you have to live in West Plano, and can catch these on special, look into it. However, Stonegate just down the road is much nicer and cheaper.
The office staff is nice but incompetent. I also worked out a deal with the manager to store a vehicle on the premises, but I guess the message didn?t get passed along and it got towed. $250 later I got it back. The staff was unwilling to compensate me in any way and their attitude was that it wasn?t their problem.
The complex is nice to look at but you can see the cost cutting efforts inside. Cabinets that don?t match in color. Light switches on the outside of rooms. A useless fireplace that takes up too much room in a small apt. Kitchens that are way too small with non-existant pantry or cabinet space. We didn?t have an abundance of problems, and the maintenance staff was always prompt when we had trouble. Their fix was not always the best or right the first time however. Our closet door was constantly falling off the tracks and they would fix it by putting more screws in instead of replacing the door. After a couple times, I gave up and just set the door up against the wall. The A/C unit inside also froze up and leaked all over our carpet.
Noise and parking can be a problem depending on which building you get stuck in. Kids like to do burnouts and have parties on the balcony. The nighboor liked to have his buddies over for karaoke night during the week. The lady downstairs liked to blare the music in her car when she was coming or going. I realize this is possible in any complex, but the staff seemed oblivious and/or uninterested in doing anything about it. They said to call the courtesy officer who was never there. After calling 3 times, she said she was busy and for me to call the police. Now that?s courtesy.
Parking around our building was horrible. It wasn?t uncommon to park 6 buildings down because all the spots were full. However, some buildings on the other side of the complex had ample parking with dozens of spots available. Nice planning.
As stated in another review, the utilities also seemed outrageous for a one bedroom apt. Electric bills well over $100 a month. No doubt due to inefficient appliances and weatherstripping that allowed cold/hot air in at every door and window. Water bills in the $30?s. This also ticks me off because they don?t individually meter the water. The complex gets the bill from the city, then distributes the cost over all occupied units. This means I get to pay for the guy washing his car in the next building over, or the leaky faucet in my nighboor?s apartment, etc.
In summary, I can?t say that it was a complete nightmare living in the Villas. It wasn?t bad for an apartment, but that?s not saying much.
