Richardson Police have logged 123 incidents in the most recent 12 months. This includes a forcible rape in May. Otherwise, the incidents are mostly property crime, e.g, burglary, theft from motor vehicle, and vandalism. However there were 10 motor vehicle thefts reported from February 23 through June 9 this year (2007).

Two recent (mid-May) incidents seem to indicate a significant escalation in the seriousness of the incidents. I refer to arrests for assault and a possession of cocaine with intent to distribute. These two incidents occurred virtually on my doorstep. The incidents are not included in the police report (possibly due to an unintentional fault in the way I formulated my request)

I attempted to discuss possible remedial actions with Apartment Management. In a very brief meeting, Management's representative flatly and absolutely denied the existence of "any problem whatsoever." It was as if someone denied the existence of something as obvious as sun. It was an Alice-in-Wonderland experience.

In my opinion, this is an unsafe environment for anyone living alone.
