When signing the lease agreement the deal offered was good, I had asked that time that if I am assured to not be charged if I had to break the lease in the middle then I will sign a longer lease. The leasing director gave me a commitment that in case if I have to break the lease then I wouldn't be charged lease breakage.
On that commitment I signed a 18 month lease. Unfortunately I had to move out of city/state within 6 months of signing the lease. When I went back to the management to break the lease I was given lease breakage charges of arround $2400, the manager with whom I had signed the lease had moved to other property under same ownership. When I told the current manager about the verbal commitment from previous manager she refused to honor it.
I asked her to call the previous manager at the other property and atleast verify the commitment, she refused to do so. I called the old manager at other property and spoke to her, she very well remembered the commitment but showed her helplessnes as she had moved out from that property. But she assured that if the current property manager calls and ask her about the commitment then she will acknowledge it.
But the Current manager never called the previous manager. The regional manager also didn't bother returning calls.
They withdrew more than $1800 from my bank. I had to close my account so that they couldnot withdraw any further.
Be carefull the management only knows how to make false commitments but doesn't honor them.

Seems to me like just tried to take advantage of the management. In the Great State of Texas what does it say? " Any verbal contract is not submissible for dispute without any commitment shown from either party" Legal contract signed also states "NO VERBAL CONTRACT will be submissable".
