A big NO

My apartment was burglarized under the most ominous of circumstances. The door frame was easily breached by the burglars, so much that there was not even a clean break in it, it simply drove the screws out of the friction plate and took a small chunk where the dead bolt was enclosed. The maintence person did an atrocious job fixing it (he put a couple nails through the frame, and screwed a new plate in), and for all I know the new tenants of that unit have the same low quality setup. Mangement tried to argue with me about putting a new lock in at first, and so it was then that I decided to move out. To tell you the truth, they were mostly uncaring about the whole thing (the accountant and assistant manager were good to me- but all the rest- not so much- the security gaurd even admitted he sleeps in the daytime- so thats why he missed it all). I think if I acted quicker (I was mostly thinking about how to get the out of there and into a new place asap) I probably could've sued them for such lousy locks. Too late now unfortunately! How did the burglars get in' Well, who knows if they even live on property (they just might), but anyways, if not they can just drive right in since there are no gates, and lots of easy access from the main streets. I only rented there for the time that I did because it was across the steet from my work place, and though that 'crime can happen anywhere, I need to just trust the good Lord.' This is indeed very true, but there is no reason why someone should increase there risks exponentioally just for convinience (the only reason I see anyone considering these apartments is just that, close commute to work). I am very dumb for living here as long as I have, and very dumb for giving them all the money I had. Me getting burglarized in many ways is my fault for not seeking better accomidations. Please learn from me, do not live here. This is an accurate account, if you do not believe me, feel free to check the Richardson PD crime reports. The number of incidents at residences in the 300 block of Prestonwood has gone up drastically over the last 6 months. Its pretty easy to put it all together from there. Like I said, let my bad experience be your lesson, move elsewhere and enjoy. God Bless.
