These apartments are for UTD students and their families. You would think that being for students only that there would be some kind of rate discount, but there isn't. You can find cheaper apartments within a couple miles (my sister got a large 2 bedroom apartment 2 minutes away from campus for $681 and I pay $594 for a small 1 bedroom).

If you have a maintainence problem be prepared to wait a long time to get it taken care of. My dryer broke (keep in mind I pay extra in my rent for the washer and dryer). It took a month for someone to come look at it. When I would call and ask if it would be looked at any time soon the staff was very rude.

There are absolutely no traffic signs anywhere in my phase. People drive like maniacs.

With no price break compared to an off campus apartment I think that you should be allowed to have guests visit you without the threat of getting a ticket, but the lease states that anyone who comes to see you without a Waterview parking permit has to stop at the information center at the front of campus EVERYTIME they come and get a temporary parking pass that has to be returned within 48 hours. UTD police don't have that big of an area to patrol so they ticket a lot. I have a child, and family often comes to visit and babysit and I think that it is riduculus that they are expected to stop everytime.

The lights in the breezeways of the buildings are often not on. When you come home to your apartment it is too dark to even see the keyhole and you have to feel for it. This is a major safety issue(especially for women) that maintainence doesn't seem to think is a big deal. Also there are frequent power outages in my phase. The power will go off and not be turned back on for several hours.

There is no need for anyone moving in to buy a stereo because you can always hear your neighbors music no matter how low they have it turned down. The walls of the buildings are thin enough that you can hear every word that your neighbor says if you listen. Upstairs neighbors walk and it sounds like their running a marathon.

Basically I would never recommend these apartments.
