I was told that all freshman would move into Phase 8, but was never told that there was a Phase 8 1/2 (which is in the boonies and not up to par.) Upon moving into my non-smoking apartment I had to clean because of the cigarette butts covering the floors. After that first night (in August) I started reporting the roach and fire ant problem on a regular basis (in writing, person, on the phone). But nothing was done about it until the end of November after I had killed them myself. And when my dead bolt in the front door was broken (something had been shoved in it) the police were quick to respond but when maintainance showed up an hour later (at 2 AM) they told me it only needed oil and they would be back at 8:30 the next morning. They didn't show back up until 11:30 the next morning after I had to call twice. At least the man was nice. I also loved the surprise fire alarm while I was studying for a major exam. The best was probably when after a couple of night time break-ins, we were told by UTD and Waterview Park that they would do everything possible to keep us safe. Then the next night while walking back from class at 10 pm, the lights in the Phase 8 parking lot were not on. When I called Waterview they said the lights belonged to UTD even though they were in Waterview's parking lot, and then UTD said they weren't theirs either... Good luck getting answers from them!

I plan on living out the rest of my lease and then shoving out. Do not expect to be heard by the Waterview Staff... It takes forever to get them on the phone and when you go into talk to them, the staff is sitting around talking to one another. Stay out of the way of cars (they try not to stop) and do not expect your sidewalk to continue (they tend to stop in the middle of nowhere and continue on after a gap of 4 feet or so.) The walls are quite thin and the sound of water is always present so get used to. The perks are the closeness to the campus and the doors that shut out your roommate from hell.
