Not too bad

I have to agree, I don't really see what the big deal is. My freshman year I lived in Phase 8, and I agree - it IS better than the other phases. Whether that's because it's new, or because it's what they show to the incoming freshman, I don't know.

This past year I lived in Phase 7, and it was almost as nice as Phase 8. I was thoroughly disappointed by their lack of quads, but that doesn't make living here terrible. I've read a lot of stuff saying that these apartments are awful, with mold and bugs, etc... Out apartment hasn't had any problems at all, except that the cable lines for the phones don't work, but we haven't called to get them fixed. They have some crappy rules, like that you have paint before you leave, and no more lease transfers, but ALSO not something unbearable.

The staff was GENERALLY helpful to me and my roommate, and beyond getting things taken care of, often gave me advice on how to fix things, or who to talk to. I had some friends who had a lot of problems with the staff - one being that she deposited her check into the Night Deposit box, and they said they never received it. They made her write another check (they said they'd make her pay the late fee if she didn't) with the promise to call "if" the other one showed up. Of course, they didn't, and they deposited both her checks on the same day. When she talked to them about it, no management seemed to be able to talk to her, only the desk girl, and they wouldn't refund her money - only gave her a "credit" towards next month.

Otherwise, my apartment is really nice, and the people around here seem as clean and decent as you can expect from college kids. Rent is a LITTLE steep, but it's really worth it for the convenience of being able to walk to class every day instead of drive, and not having the pay the rediculous parking permit on campus.
