Management sucks...love the complex though...

I have lived here for about 9 months and this complex is beautiful and I love my apartment. However, the management...well let's say that I've never had any management quite like this in all the apartments I have lived in. I started off coming by to check out the apartments and putting one on hold. I requested a top floor apartment and dealt with one person in particular (won't mention her name) who told me I would be on the 2nd floor and took my deposit and got it all set up. I told her I needed to come on that Friday after work and come pick up my keys that way I could start moving in on Saturday. She told me no or it was going to cost me an extra $35. I said nevermind I would be there first thing when the office opened that Saturday. I showed up on that Saturday and the office wasn't opened so my brother and I drove around to see where my apartment was going to be. We quickly found out that it was on the 2nd floor, however there was a 3rd floor to this building. We went back to the office when they opened. First, they told me that they don't do move-ins on Saturday and were'nt quite sure why I wasn't told to come pick up my keys the Friday before...I started getting upset. I told her about how I was supposed to have a top floor apartment and her response was "that building has a 3rd floor'". As you can imagine my mind was blown. I've already had my stuff loaded in my car with nowhere else to go, so I brush it off and signed the papers and they handed me my keys. My brother and I went back to the apartment, arms loaded, and guess what'' they handed us keys to the wrong apartment (which I know was probably an accident but it was helping). My brother had to go back down and get the right keys.
That was just the first day...
Also, they lost my lease papers for almost a month and then to find out that the apartment manager hadn't even signed off on them, a month later. Even though I wanted to move out, there are some factors that kept me here but the same thing happened with my renewal after my six month lease was up. They kept telling me that I owed them paperwork and I told them I had handed everything in to them to a particular person 3 weeks ago. They said they would look and call me back, didn't happen (as always). Finally two weeks later I finally get it resolved it was still sitting on the apartment manager's desk to be signed off on...figures. There is more that has happened but I am going to run out of space.
Don't get me wrong, I love my apartment. I am 5 minutes away from work, which is the only reason I am still here right now. There is only one person that I have dealt with who seems to have their head on straight and is very polite and that is Amanda (Thank you!!).
Couple other things...(inconveniences)
The maintenance crew seems very nice and is willing to help all they can. However, the cleaning crew seems to think they can park all over the place (even in covered spots) which infuriates me when I come home from work and can't park in my spot and then can't find the people they belong to, to move their vehicle. They of all people should know those covered spots are for the paying residents. The apartments do not come with sliding screen doors, those are $50. To add a ceiling fan (which is really needed) $50. I guess here in Roanoke they bill water differently. I pay nearly $45 every month in water. I owned a 2 story home for a short time and was paying $60. Also, I don't ever watch TV. I maybe turn it on once every two weeks. All of a sudden they stop paying for basic cable and then turn around and say that we are REQUIRED to have extended basic and are now going to have to pay for it. I don't watch TV, why in the hell should I be made to pay for it if I'm not gonna watch it' So now I am spending $35 more a month for something I don't need. (just fyi)
Good Comments...
The walls are pretty thick, never hear my neighbors. Pool is great. Love my apartment and all features. Residents are very friendly here. Great workout facility.
Overall, I won't be renewing my lease this time no matter the situation. g-hKOS7s4Nq5n3hEIpHd

I'm a former resident... I moved out in May. They must have changed some things since then because my apartment came with a sliding screen door and ceiling fan and there was no charge. We did get free cable which we thought was a mistake at first because they didn't tell us about it. Sorry to hear about your problems. Something I think is weird is that it seemed like there were always different people working in the office. Always a different lady when I called or came in. But yes, the complex is beautiful.

it's funny reading through these reviews because no one ever seems to say anything nice about the apartments. i have lived here a year and yes i see new faces in the office but that doesn't mean they do not know what they are doing. i love it here. it's laid back, quiet, and they seem to take care of all of my maintenance requests when i call them in. i have made $500 for referring people here too! shoot, why not live here and make money!
