The Good: It has been very quiet. I have not had any major problems with neighbors, there have been no break ins or anything of that nature that I am aware of, and if there are parties in the neighborhood or loud neighbors, they're definitely not around me. If anything, it's a little too quiet...
The Bad: The stupid neighbors are just waiting for you to make some wrong move so they can call the office or the police and file a complaint on you. It's ridiculous how much time these people seem to have on their hands. Also, I have had to call maintenance three times about my air conditioner unit. It finally went out completely, but in all fairness they did replace it. Also, the woman in the office will be very nice to you AS LONG AS YOU ARE NICE TO HER. If you cop an attitude, she will give it right back to you, so you have to know how to deal with people the right way.
THE UGLY: One of the guys in the office screamed at me the other day. He was loud, threatening, and I was in complete shock at his audacity to speak to me in such a manner. I filed a complaint with the company that manages the property, so hopefully that will be the last time that he dares speak to me that way.
Overall, the apartments are reasonably priced, maintenance is really not that bad, and the office staff could use some people skills training, but for the neighborhood that you are considering, it's not such a bad place.
HOWEVER, if you have kids, you will have to worry about people calling CPS on you if you let them play outside. It has happened to many people there, and even to me once, and of course the allegations were unfounded, but all the same it was a real inconvenience and I was of course offended. Also, Voigt Elementary has not been a good experience for my son at all. The children from the area are not exactly upstanding. If you have kids, and you are concerned for their well-being at school, I would strongly recommend moving elsewhere. And not Apple Creek either, because that's where the really low standard people live.
