About time the lawsuit got filed! 1/2 Million 2K$ per day! Sweet!
May 30, 2006 (Williamson County, TX) â Today, May 30, 2006, the Williamson County Attorneyâs Office filed suit against Western Rim to bring down a sign the company erected in the middle of the Cat Hollow subdivision.
In October of last year, Western Rim, who manages the Mansions on the Green Apartments, erected a sign that stands approximately 100 feet high, which is roughly 57 feet above what state law allows. The newly hired Civil Chief for the County Attorneyâs Office, Steve Ackley, has decided to make this the first lawsuit to be filed under his direction.
âWhen I was hired, County Attorney Jana Duty asked me to take an aggressive approach to ensuring that Williamson County remains a beautiful place to live. In this case, Western Rim has come into a quiet community and erected an eyesore at the cost of the ascetics of a beautiful neighborhood,â Ackley said. âWilliamson County is asking for the maximum civil penalties allowed by law, which currently stand at almost a half a million dollars and are increasing at a rate of two thousand dollars per day as long as the signs stand at their current height,â he said.
âAlthough the County Attorneyâs Office does not normally take on this type of litigation, this violation is so egregious, someone has to do something about it,â Duty said. âThe Home Owners Association, the Municipal Utility District, the city of Round Rock and Precinct One Commissioner Lisa Birkman have all expressed a desire to see this sign brought down, so we are going to try to bring it down to the height that the law allows,â she said.
