Not a first choice but not the worst I have seen

I lived in this appartment for about a year. I had just recently came back from overseas in the military, and was trying to start a life with my new wife. Newport seemed like a nice place to stay with the way the "model" was. After moving into the appartments we found that not everything is as it seems. You could not take a shower for more then about 7-10 minutes at a time and if you have more then one person trying to take a shower, it better be about an hour time difference since your water heater is about as big as a 5 gallon jug. As the summer months get hotter and hotter I noticed that no matter what I had my AC set at I could not get my appartment to fall below 75. The seals around the doors and windows were old and letting air in and out. My wife was afraid to walk outside after dark because their is no lighting in the parking area, if you found a space to park that was even remotely close to your appartment you were very lucky. Doing laundry was a totally different story. Drying clothes was like playing the lottery you might get a dryer that will dry your clothing the first time but it usually took 2-3 cycles. Maintenance was usually pretty good about looking at the problems you had, and as far as fixing them well they had quick fixes for everything. Although I would not call them shoddy, I would say that they could have done some things a lot better. Upon moving out I left a forwarding address and never got a final letter or bill from the appartment I got one from a collection agency instead. Upon asking management about this bill I was told that a letter was sent 3 weeks earlier and since I did not respond I could not deal with the appartment anymore I had to go through the collection agency. That was a bit much I think. 3 weeks, less then 30 days went by and 1 letter. You would think maybe a month or a final notice or something, but NO. Although the location is good and the price is fair, I would not recommend this appartment to anyone unless some major renovations took place.
