The day I moved in, they changed my apartment at the last minute. The apartment that they moved me into didn't even look ready. My bedroom window was broken (and it was 30 degrees outside), the dishwasher spewed this guck onto my dishes, the storage door and front door had gashes in them as if the doors had been kicked in, the deadbolt lock was broken and the storage door handle had to be replaced, the shower head was broken and I had to take baths, and the carpet has spots everywhere. It took them two days to replace the window; but it took them a month to fix everything else. I live on the first floor and insects from outside easily just waltz into my apartment; I have seen creatures that I have never seen before in my life. I gave my apartment a thorough cleaning and sprayed all kinds of powerful bug sprays inside my apartment and around it on the outside. I still see dozens of different species of spiders, earwigs, beetles, some roach/roly poly-like bugs, and worms. I can't find a filter large enough for my AC vent at any store and maintenance has been waiting on their shipment for over 4 months; I have had the same filter for 8 months. I am moving as soon as my lease is up; I may even ask to be moved to the second or third floor before then because I can't take the bugs anymore. Just a couple of weeks ago, I saw a fiery-red centipede crawl into my apartment from under my front door. My cousin lives here also and she's starting to see roaches. I had a co-worker who lived here and had to move because she had cold water for over a month. Also, in the middle of the day almost everyday, the water pressure is turned down to a trickle.
Update: I put in a request to have my apartment sprayed and they gave me a schedule of when pest control sprays certain buildings. Pest control only sprays on Wednesdays and they only go to certain buildings every week. A resident can wait months before the interior of their apartment can be sprayed and then have to wait again to have the exterior sprayed another time.
Another update: I had cold water for almost 2 months before I moved, I only had a couple of minutes worth of hot water for months before that. There was a leak in the bathroom wall that started to soak the wall in my bedroom closet. The carpet in my closet was damp and mold started growing in the bathroom and the closet. They didn't fix everything until a couple of days before I moved. I also had an incident where the refrigerator stopped working after hours and they said they had to wait until the next day to replace it. They didn't even reimburse me for the food that went bad. I also told them my heater was putting out a gaseous smell and all they did was change the thermostat. When I had to start running the A/C; the vent started dripping and one night sparks flew from the vent, a lightbulb burst in the kitchen, and smoke was filling up my apartment. The fire department told me to report them to code compliace if they failed again to fix the problem properly; luckily it got fixed. Almost everytime I went into the office someone was yelling at management about a major problem they were having and they've been waiting over a month to get it fixed. First the wait for repairs was 4 to 6 weeks, it increased to 2 months before I thankfully was able to move out.
