These apartments are truly beautiful. When you do a walkthrough you think they're so unique and look so nice that you've found your new home.
Then you live there and it's as though you're on a beautiful movie set where the facades are all made of wood and cardboard but you look behind them and there's nothing there. The construction is merely cosmetic and not well built, the walls are paper thin which is ok if you don't mind hearing everything your neighbor has to say.
The parking is horrible. You're squeezed in tight and have to be very careful to get out of your parking spot without dinging one of the other cars. A friend of mine always had a tough time getting out of her space without bumping other cars so she started parking far away from everyone on the end where she could get out easily. Unfortunately (maybe because she parked in the same spot every day') they had her car towed as an "abandoned vehicle", even though she drove it to work every day. Alta Stone denied they called, but their security guard gave the go ahead to tow the car. The tow company charges $225 to get the car out. How would you feel if you came out to your car for work and it was gone and then find out a tow company is holding it for ransom'
They have a slick way of keeping you in the apartment even after you find out how terrible the place is. They draw you in with specials such as your first two months rent being free then charge a huge rent for the rest of the year. It all evens out to a fairly competitive rent and you figure you're better off being able to wait a few months before rent starts. But unlike other apartments where, when you realise they're crap and you want to move, you end up willing to pay the extra month's rent to break the lease. Alta Stone holds that first two month's rent over your head. If you move out early you have to pay for those two free months plus whatever other usual fees you would have paid. So you're stuck there.

That is how it goes! I had to break my lease last year and I had to pay all of my specials back and something called a relet fee and I had to pay rent until they leased my apartment.

Ok - parking is very well spaced out. I drive a suv and am able to take my baby in her carseat out with plenty of room where I do not hit a car next to me - even another suv or truck. As far as the towing - I can't say anything about that. I know the security guard though and I am going to personally ask him about that. That's odd that nothing was wrong with where the car was and it got towed. The walls are not paper thin though. I have heard neighbors only when they are having a really loud yelling match and really loud music, but thats about it. Our immediate neighbors throw parties all the time, and I cannot hear them inside their apartment through my walls. About breaking a lease - ANY apartment will charge you that stuff. It's called signing a contract and then not going on with your word for it. You think you can sign a contract for a car and then try to give it back without having to pay anything? NO!
