I was reading the reviews on this site and I was in shock. I have to write a rebuttal to these comments. Crack pipes' Used Syringes'! My buddies in the Air Force teased me when they saw these reviews. I have lived here for close to 3 years now and I have never seen crack pipes or used syringes. In fact I dontt even see trash. The grass is cut at least once a week (not needed in winter when the grass doesnt really grow.) They just painted and renovated. The place has 2 pools and a workout room. I use all of them. Its a gated community. I have never had a break in with my car or apartment nor have the neighbors. Knock on wood. There is very little/no trash on the ground. The staff patrols during the day. At least I see them alot driving in their little golf karts. They worked with me being military and being out of town sometimes when the water bill is due. The staff is friendly and professional. Look. I can go on and on about how good this place is. Its not perfect, but really what place is' It needs some work in some areas like parking, not having the people who cut the grass blow grass all over your car (I hate that crap), and the laundry room washers and dryers are too expensive, but in the areas that really matter it excels. The mark of a good apartment is like the mark of a good country. A simple way to take measure of a country is to look at how many want in and how many want out. Tony Blaire. Take a look at an apartments parking lot. If the lot is full (causes parking problems) chances are its either really cheap to live there or its really not that bad. In most cases its probably good. Altamonte is usually at close to full occupancy most of the time as I had to wait a few weeks for an opening initially and a few of my friends throughout the years checked this complex out but they where told they had to wait for a few weeks for one to open up. Take a look at the cars in the lot. Look for derelict or cheap run down cars. Altamonte doesnt currently have any derelict cars and the cars are well kept. If they do have a derilict car they will put a notice on a car to get it towed. (It happened to my neighbor - they got mad and moved out). Go in too speak to a staff member and make your own decision. Better yet speak to a CURRENT resident as a staff member is probably biased. Rent is respectable. Its not cheap keeping people in poverty out (poverty tends to breed crime) but yet not expensive allowing people in the middle class a chance to live there. People who write on these boards are usually people that have bad experiences. If you currently are having a good experience here or you did you probably wouldnt be on this website feeling bitter trying to put the complex down. You would just move into your new apartment or home and be on with your life. I have noticed that this website tends to have the majority of its people write negative reviews (on all complex's) with very little people actually writing positive. Altamonte has a high number of reviews and close to half recommend it. Thats more then most complexs. Im on this website because I'm bored at work and my buddies told me about the crack pipe reviews. I just want to set the record straight. Crimes that happened in the past are exactly that. Honestly crime can, does and will happen everywhere eventually but the difference is what is the complex doing about if. If you go on the grounds you will notice that it is a gated community, has motion sensor lights, has cameras at each of the exits and they patrol the grounds. Does your current apartment complex do that' If you dont trust me because you dont know me then go onto the grounds and ask someone who is in the lot getting to their car. I can almost guarantee they will tell you something positive. Compared to the other horror stories from my buddies in the military who live throughout the city this place is really worth a look. See for yourself and make your own decision!
