top 7 things i hate about you From: -Anonymous- Date posted: 8/19/2005 Years at this apartment: 2005 - 2005   Here is a list of just SOME of the problems we have had with Ashley Oaks and the management: 1. We reported mold on our balcony and door the first day we moved in (8 months ago) and it still has not been cleaned. 2. The water bill is ridiculously high. Their standard shower heads are 5 gallons per minute. We changed to a 2.5 gallon per minute shower head because our first water bill was outrageous....the second water bill was even higher than the first! $25-$30 a month for water is absurd for a one bedroom apartment! 3. security is nonexistent. we pay for a gated community, and have remotes for access to the gates. i have only had to use my remote about 5 times. the gates are ALWAYS open. we have consistently had "make more money from home" flyers posted on our vehicles. when management was asked about the issue..."we're working on it" is always the answer. 4. EVERY SINGLE CHAIR in the pool area is broken (over 20 chairs). I approached management about this at the beginning of the summer in June; supposedly would be fixed in one week. It's August now...still no working chairs. 5. sprinklers water the parking lot and the air. none of the sprinklers by our building hit the grass. the water collects by the covered parking and grows mold. it is a complete waste of water. 6. According to management, only one (1) maintenence guy is employed to fix the problems of over 400 apartment units. And he lives 45 min. away from San Antonio. That is why nothing is ever fixed. 7. The noise level is not that bad in terms of neighbors, but the entire living room wall shakes everytime someone goes down the stairs. I'm afraid our framed art is going to fall on our head while we're sitting on the couch because the wall shakes so violently. This is just a small sample of what has been wrong and annoying with this place. But even after all this complaining, I have to say I will probably renew my lease at the end of the year ONLY because I don't think it will be worth the hassle to move everything out and into another apartment with the possibility of the same problems occuring somewhere else. Overall, the management is kind, but extremely unhelpful and unresponsive in terms of maintenence and other complaints. I would not reccommend moving here if you don't have to.
