If you are looking to move into what will be your "first apartment" as many would a "starter home" then perhaps Carmel is your logical choice. From a cost perspective, it is quite reasonable, but after living here only a few short months you find that you pay for what you get, which is not much. Let's begin with the electrictiy, which for some reason shuts off at least once monthly and can take anywhere from 30 min. to a few hrs. to come back on. No storms, no overload of electricity, I guess it's just the area. Very frustrating as it happens so frequently. Secondly, this complex is quite old relatively speaking and thus the fixtures and appliances (including the AC) are out of date and don't provide the necessary functions. Bottom line, these apartments can get quite warm and in South TX this is not a good thing. Lastly, the noise, although not often, can be louder than preferred by those that are of a more mature nature. Again, you are dealing with a low cost apartment in a great neighborhood, so you get what you pay for. We'rre moving out soon, need to move up even if it is a sacrifice of location.
