I have lived here for just over six months and I am very pleased with Chase Hill. It is certainly not your idyllic home if you plan to live here long term, but if you are going to UTSA you can't ask for a better deal. I ride a bicycle to school and it takes me 10 minutes to get from my apartment to the classroom.
Other reviews list safety and pest issues, but I feel very safe, and so far have not seen a single roach, ant, or any other pest. I advise you to look at the date when many of those who gave negative reviews lived here. Even though they posted recently, they moved out several years ago.
Repair requests are promptly taken care of, and the apartments are significantly quieter than any of the surrounding complexes. I have only heard two parties on weekend nights, both on different ocassions. I am certain you will not find a quieter place this close to UTSA, since it seems like the "cool kids" live just down the road at the Maverick apartments, which is the "place to be" if you are a freshman. I am in Grad School, so a quiet place was a must, and Chase Hill has been ideal.
There are plenty of parking spaces, and even though the gate is sometimes open at night, I honestly don't think that is an issue (have you ever been stoped from entering a complex by a gate' Don't you just follow the next car that drives in anyways')
In short, if you have a small budget and are not looking for a picture-perfect place to live, you should consider Chase Hill. It's a nice, yet not a luxurious place, and the staff is friendly. If you take the time to stop by and say hello when you pay your rent or pick up oversized packages, they will soon know you by name and be specially atentive with your needs. Some of them live in the complex, which makes them even more concerned with maintenance and similar issues.
