An ok apartment complex

I have lived in apartment for so long now and so I think I could do a dispassionate analysis of this apartment complex. I had lived her for more than 2 years and these are the pros and cons I encountered. I am going to let you be your own judge on whether you want to live here or not.

Pros:
1. I found the apartment management reasonable. They did not change much after the initial few months and so are kinda consistent. They were better than most apartment managements that I have encountered.
2. The maintenance guys were great. They will respond fast and fix stuff fast!
3. The area near the apts have a lot of restaurants/fast foods/grocery shopping.
4. I liked both the swimming pools and have enjoyed using them in the evenings.
5. I loved the sweet smelling trees inside the apt complex. There is no walking trail as they advertise though.
6. I loved the mini bar area and the plenty of shelves inside the apt. The layout is one of the best I have lived in. Plenty of shelves all over the apt.
7. I liked their newsletter and their free breakfast events.

Cons:
1. When I moved here first from an area 3 miles away, my car insurance went up by $150 per year because this area has such a heavy traffic. I had to switch insurance carriers to avoid the hike.
2. The traffic is so very bad on De Zavala Road. Several people try to stay on the right lane until the last moment even though they know that the lane ends and then suddenly get into your lane. So annoying! The traffic coming out of the apartment is also horrible. Plan to have tons of patience and atleast 10 extra minutes if you plan to turn left towards I-10!
3. There are LOTs of students living here. So plan to put up with noisy late night parties. I lived in the 2nd floor and had a student live on the third floor throwing parties at 3 am and most of the action happened on the patio and so you could hear it clearly in your bedroom. Then two guys moved into the apartment below me and would play music so loud that the floor vibrated. I had to complain to the apartment management and they asked them to tone it down. Thank goodness those guys moved away.
4. The walls and floors are so thin that you can hear every movement of the person upstairs. It is so much louder than any other apt I have lived in.
5. Some residents there throw weird parties and their guests are so drunk by the time they leave that they crash and drive away. My girlfriend had her car's rear damaged by a drunk driver who didnt care to stop. Had the cops called and they couldnt do much.
6. Some residents do not pay their rents on time and the apartment management enters their apt and takes some electronics away and leaves a notice that they can pay the rent and can get their stuff back. I think this is a provision in the rental contract but I find this weird.
7. Residents with dogs never pick after their dogs which is so annoying for non-pet owners like me.
8. There was this weird guy who tried to get into my apartment not once but three times and before I could open the door will run away. I caught him red-handed once and asked him what his deal was. He said that he mistook my apt as his. I got scared and bought a rental insurance and complained to the apt management. They said that he was mentally retarded and after a while he wasnt seen. I guess they asked his family to move or he moved on his own. Scary!
9. Some of the residents are real classy. A guy in my building left a gooey stuff outside his apt after he moved away. There were flies everywhere and I had to call the apt after a few days for them to clean it.
10. The speed bumps inside the apt are annoying and people try to go around them causing problems to the ones that obey the rules.
11. The rental contract had weird provisions like a 60 day notice, rent on the first of a month (no grace period) and the provision which allows them to enter your apt if you do not pay your rent. I have never seen such provisions in my previous apts.
12. For some reason the postman comes to this apt around 6 pm or later even though this apt is probably the nearest to the post office. On most days I could not pick up my mail while returning from work.
13. The water/trash charges are rather high. When I first moved in it was around $15 a month. When I left it was upwards of $25.
14. There was this weird incident a year or half back when someone spray painted all white cars and trucks parked near my building. Mine was also white but thankfully the paint wasnt a permanent paint!
