I recently moved out of Fountainhead after living there for one year. When I first moved in the water heater was leaking. I advised maintenance and they came and "fixed" it. Two weeks later, I was out of town for the weekend and came home to a FLOODED hallway/foyer. They sent someone the NEXT day to replace the water heater and repair the carpet. The problem' They only took out the old padding underneath the carpet and didn't replace it for almost 6 months!! Then there was a leak in my roof (I lived on the top floor) and they took 2 months to repair that, and they didn't do anything but PAINT OVER IT! My car was vandalized and broken in to twice. The police told me I needed to let the management know, their response was " Wow, that sucks, sorry". VERBATIM! So, needless to say, I was ready to leave when my husband got stationed out of state. When I moved out, I had the carpets shampooed. I turned in my keys 2 weeks earlier and asked the management when I could set up the final walk thru, the manager at the time, told me tenants were not allowed to be present on the walk through and waved me off. (even though your lease states you are REQUIRED to be present) Then 30 days after I had been out of the unit, I recieve a letter stating that I OWED them money for carpet cleaning & replacement due to pet urine. Mind you, I only had a dog for 5 months out of the year that I lived there and I continued to pay "pet rent". I sent them a letter stating that I didn't feel liable for these excessive charges ( why would I pay for a cleaning AND a REPLACEMENT a bit redundant) I also advised them that I was DENIED a walk through. Their response 4 months AFTER the first letter I sent, had pictures that were barely visible and could no way be verified as dirty or even as my former unit. They also claim that they attempted to call me but, no one answered. I only have a cell phone and I am a stay at home mom, I think I would have noticed any attempts the made to contact me. I am now in the process of taking them to justice court. They are attempting to get money that is not due to them. BEWARE! Do not rent here and if you are a current resident with pets, make sure you do your final walk thru.

First of all i would like to address your issues as you stated them. The water heater was not leaking, but had water in the pan which was taken care of within 24 hrs. When the water from the a/c leaked on to the carpet in front of the unit, it was taken care of the same day. The leak in the ceiling was addressed as it was called in, this did take two different times in order for the roofers to get the problem fixed, but it was not ignored. The paint on the interior was to cover water damage to the ceiling, you would not see a roof repair from the interior. My staff and i have never stated "Wow, that sucks, sorry" as you wrote. This is very unprofessional and would not come from my staff. We have never stated that a resident cannot be present for a walk through, it is absolutely encouraged. We may not be able to do the walk through at the time a resident walks in to the office, but we have always scheduled it. We have never "waved off" a resident. It does not take long for a pet to damage carpet, and in five months, it is very possible for a pet's urine to cause pet damage. Anyone who has this type of damage is charged for the replacement of carpet. The four months that are claimed to have past before someone contacted you is because you were sent to collections for the balance due on your account. You are now dealing with the collection department and that should not reflect on the community office. We are sorry that you felt that you should write this type of letter on a site such as this, but it is freedome of speech. We just wanted to respond so that anyone reading this would understand the other side of the story.

I hate that they responded "anonymously". Why don't you put your name on the response if your so ready to go to bat for your staff? Nonetheless this "community" does suck! It was by far the worst place I have ever lived. I'm sure " your side of the story" is --------. What I would love to hear is how you say you handled this residents concern about her car being vandalized? You guys don't do a thing but sit back and collect on the first! Don't let the nice landscaping fool you, knucklehead apts is a pos!
- glad to be former resident for one year now! - Anthony
