Stay away from the Fountains of San Antonio!!!!!!!

The Fountains of San Antonio seems nice at first: the price is fair and the units are pretty large. The management seems friendly and the apartments look well maintained. Tom (the owner I think) talked about how much money he was putting into fixing the place up.

However, here are a few things to notice If you take a tour of the Fountains of San Antonio:

1. The PAINTED BATHTUBS. Yeah, they look nice when you are touring the place, just like a brand new tub. But the paint starts flaking off the first time you take a bath or shower. (I was always worried my daughter was going to swallow paint chips while she was taking a bath.) After a month or so, you can see most of the tub and you can see why they tried to cover it up. It looks grimy and awful underneath. Yuck!

2. Parking. Parking spots are not assigned. (At least not when I was there last year.) So you get these deadbeats that leave their cars in the same place for weeks at a time and you end up dragging your groceries and your kids to the other end of the complex. It sucked.

3. Noise. The Fountains of San Antonio seems to rent to anyone. (In fact I think they give you a discount if you show them your prison tattoos.) Because of the tenants, expect loud parties and drunken brawls most weekends, especially in the summer.

4. Security. I saw broken glass a lot in the parking lot from people getting their stereos stolen. I also saw cop cars frequently with people giving descriptions of missing property. Granted, this place is one of the nicer places in the immediate vicinity but the nearby places have even worse tenants. I suspect most of the crime was committed by teens in the surrounding complexes.

5. Honesty of the staff. The staff at the Fountains of San Antonio will be friendly as long as you are paying on time. But don't expect much (if any) of your security deposit back. Even if you are a stellar renter and leave the place spotless, you will still be charged exorbitant rates for cleaning and they will also hit you with fees for things like "refinishing the bathtub" (see comment 1 above).

6. Length of stay. This is usually a pretty good indicator of how satisfied people are with thier rental experience: Do people sign another lease and stick around' At the Fountains of San Antonio, most people seem to get out as soon as they can. (I know I did.)

Summary: There are certainly worse places to rent in San Antoinio and The Fountains of San Antonio is located quite conveniently near USAA and the Medical Center. But, I would not live here again even if it were free. The management is unscrupulous and takes advantage of people.
