Good value for money, but horrible staff

I cannot leave this place soon enough. In my opinion, the staff here are completely incompetent. I have had nothing but trouble from them, and they have been lazy and unwilling to provide any type of customer service. Let me give you an example. One day I received a notice on my door that I had a package and it was left at the office. I went to the office, was NOT greeted when I walked in the door, and was told I didn't have a package before the receptionist even went to check. Finally after asking her to please double check and showing her the slip I received she said, "(sigh) Fine.. after I finish this." .. and proceeded to sit down, grade papers, and make me wait TEN minutes before she got up to look around the corner. Another time, the same leasing agent shut the door in my face as well as the faces of 4 other possible leasers. She said she was going over a lease and couldn't allow us in. Whatever happened to, "Why don't you come in, have a seat, and I'll be with you in a second'" Apparently she has NO customer service skills. Again, I was not greeted when I entered, or greeted when I left.
FINALLY, my two most recent headaches have been when my best friend tried to visit. I faxed a request over to allow him into my apartment in my absence. When he arrived, they said there was no such request. He noticed their fax was out of paper, and when he told them to put paper in their fax... SURPRISE! The request came through. Then, it took them another 30 minutes to locate a key and the total time was 45-1 hour until they finally got him into the apartment.
Recently, this week, I am moving (thank goodness) so I have my leasing agency pick up the washer/dryer. Three weeks ago I faxed in a request to let the agency in my apartment today to pick up the washer/dryer. Since I had problems with this last time, I called 4 days ago to check with the property manager as to whether or not they received my request. She told me yes, it was there, and everything was set. THEN, 3 days later I get a call from the leasing agency. They tell me they just spoke to Foxfire and the agent told them they don't have anything stating they're allowed in. CAN YOU BELIEVE THIS'!' So I call back Foxfire, and the leasing agent tells me, "Oh.. yeah.. I was the one who spoke to them.. .. well.. I didn't have anything here that said that." So I told her, "IS there not a folder or file you could actually GET UP and LOOK IN because I spoke to the manager and she said it was there." .. and she tells me, "Oh.. well yeah.. after I got off the phone with them I did go look and the request is there."
Why can't these people get off their LAZY bum and do some work'!' Unbelievable. Completely incompetent and unbelievable. I could go on with the MANY problems I've had (among which: I was charged once for rent and the agent FORGOT to write my apt # on the receipt and I received a nasty call from one of the agents telling me I didn't pay and they wouldn't believe me until I SHOWED them the receipt; I needed my blinds replaced once, and they charged me THREE times and THREE different prices for the same job, etc.)
Now, to their credit, the property manager Jill is excellent, but unfortunately she doesn't work there - she manages more than just Foxfire and is there VERY rarely, so when she is not around, the level of service drops dramatically.
The maintenence is excellent as well. Everything was always fixed well and promptly.
The noise is horrible, especially during the school year. The band practices in the parking lot accross from the apartments and even though I am on the complete other side, there is no escaping the noise. The drumming, the thumping, the loud music, etc. Not to mention most of the families here let their kids run around outside, and there are always screaming children to listen to at all times of the day.
The grounds are not spectacular. Regularly there are maintenence equipment dumped into the parking spaces so you cannot park (i.e. a few months ago it was rocks, now 2x4's). The lawn is kept (often cut with a LOUD weed wacker early Saturday morning so it is difficult to sleep in), but the outside of the apts. are horrible. The paint is peeling and the wood cracking on the balconies and siding.
There is asbestos, the bathrooms are not clean, the toilets and drains do not work properly, I had to put in a request for water pressure when I first moved in, and the worst thing is the water bill. Foxfire chooses to bill you based on the total water used for the apartment complex. So for example, let's say the apartment complex uses $x amount of dollars in water. They divide it up by apartments, so even if you're in a 2 bedroom 2 bath with only 2 people, they say an average is 3.5 people living in a 2 bedroom 2 bath, so you pay 3.5 people's share of the water bill. This was my case, and my water bill was usually $35 where it SHOULD be around $10 or less! This infuriates me because I'm paying for the water THEY use for the swimming pools, etc!
All in all, I would not recommend this complex.
