I no longer live in La Mirage, but did for 2 years. I have mixed feelings about the complex. Right after I moved in my nieghbor pointed out a downstairs apaprtment that had just been burlgarized (the window screen was still ripped up and on the ground)which left me good and paranoid for a while. I never had any problems with the staff except for the mananger (maybe she is no longer there) who made you feel like she was doing you a blessing by even allowing you to share her airspace. Yes, would have to agree with other peoples' opinions of the neighborhood. There are many "low rent" apartments nearby and I felt safer in my upstairs apartment. There are several night clubs across the street in a strip mall that get plenty loud and rowdy as well. My experiences with maintainence were on the whole positive, however I had doodle bugs living under my carpet (gross!)I don't think it is fair or logical for other people to complain about hearing their neighbors, though....'tis the nature of apartment living. If you want absolute peace and solitute, buy a house in Helotes. There is a good mix of people at La Mirage, from elderly people to college students, to families. I am happy to be in a home now.
