Horrible place to live, Horrible Management

Years at this apartment: 2006 - 2008
The properties were poorly maintained. When we moved in there was no Dryer duct, the rail for the stairs was about to come out of the wall and the parking was atrocious. I'm not even sure how I was able to get the giant U-Haul truck to the back of the complex where we lived. I had to weave through a maze of cars parked everywhere. This is by far my BIGGEST complaint. Routinely it was impossible for me to get out of my complex without having to find the person who was illegally parked. Management promised to fix the problem, but in the year and a half I lived there it was never fixed either by people getting tickets (which never happened) or more parking being available. Finally when we moved out (early) we were promised that no fees would be pursued, then management changed as it apparently does once or twice a year, and when we moved out they started telling us of having to pay forwarded rent (which was 4 months). I told them I would be willing to pay the re-letting fee plus the concession we got which amounted to about $1100 and that if it was going to be significantly more than that that we would just keep the apartment for the remainder of lease. Of course they promised me that it shouldn't be much more than that (of course they said they weren't sure). Well, two months later I get a bill for $3,233.50, giving no real explanation of where that number came from. I called them, went down in person and was told, no that seems high, don't pay it, we will call you with the correct amount. This never happened, so I never paid it. Now in November, 7 months after moving out I am getting calls from a collector, it was only now that they tell me they are charging me the re-letting fee, the concession, two months rent, plus another pro-rated amount for the third month. I wish they had been upfront with me, because the difference between 4 months rent @ $910 is $3,640, vs. the amount they are charging me is about $400 ($406.50 to be exact). It's probably pretty standard but their collection agency RDAC (Rent Debt Automated Collections) is extremely rude and basically insulted my wife when they first called. So don't rent here unless you want crappy management.
