Used to be great - new management is horrible

A recent review mentions that the new management has ruined the Lodge. That is absolutely correct. I first moved in to a one-bedroom there four years ago. It was the only apartment complex I looked at, and I absolutely loved it. The office staff was awesome. They were easy to talk to, always helpful, and very reasonable. I miss them. The non-office staff, like the groundskeepers, were (and still are) some of the nicest people you will ever meet. Several months ago a new management company took over, and all office staff were replaced, at which point things took a turn for the worse. The office staff has become rude, rarely available, and I question whether or not they are truthful. The worst came about when my girlfriend and I moved out recently to a house a few miles away. We and two other people spent the entire last day cleaning our 2-bedroom (lived in for the last 9 months I was there) top to bottom. The place was spotless. We had a dog and so even shampooed/steam-cleaned the entire carpet. I trusted the old management company so much that I made the mistake of waving my right to be present for the walkthrough, nor did I take pictures prior to leaving (never had to before, thought the new company would be the same). I had made $399 in deposits (300/pet, 99/security), and they gave us a move-out bill for $170 (meaning 170 399 in damages, or $569). On that same sheet, the manager had written "Very clean!" with a smiley face, so why the damages' They decided to rip me off and claim that two doors needed to be replaced at $100/each (and charge $200 for pet/flea treatments, for a 20 pound dog without fleas, after a full shampoo/steam clean of the apartment we did on our own, after already taking 150/pet off the top as a non-refundable portion that doesn't apply to damages). They said one door had a hole in it and another had been "patched." Never, at any time, did we damage any door in that house. Never, at any time, did we "patch" any door. Never, at any time, was a hole made in a door. Of course now it's my word against theirs because I didn't take pictures before leaving - and it's a lesson I will remember. Stay away from the Lodge at Shavano Park. Several years ago they were one of the premier apartment communities in San Antonio. Now, they're just another untrustworthy apartment complex ready to treat you like crap and scrape every dime they can from you, even if they have to make up claims to do it. I feel bad for the non-office employees. They're fantastic people and deserve to work for a better company. If you live there now, I'd take pictures so you have proof when you leave.

I must be calling in on all their bad days, because I try the polite/respectful attitude with them and it doesn't make a difference they are still slow and rude.
