My new friends in the management office asked me to write a review. I don't normally do this but they have been so helpful to me that I thought that I would take the time to help them. Since I moved here a year ago, I have seen lots of improvements on the property. The first manager was not very good. Then a new one came in last fall. She wasn't bad, but she was not there long. Since about February, we have had a great manager. She makes sure that all my maintenance problems are fixed right the first time and I really appreciate that. That's why I was happy to write a review when they asked me.

I had seriously entertained the notion of moving to this complex: very affordable, conveniently located, and good (if rather small) floor plans. There were three red flags for me, though: first, the gate has been in the "open" position every time I've driven by; second, the model apartment I saw was, uh, under-maintained; and finally, I was told the complex has a policy of not accepting personal checks upon move-in (money order only). Moreover, I bank online (my federal survivor's benefits are direct-deposited, and I receive my statements electronically - the only sane choice in today's world, IMHO) and was told I'd have to print out the past three months of bank statements and provide them to the complex before I could even be considered for a credit check. SO.....I drove down the road to another property (this one with a functioning access gate), and was assisted by a very nice young lady who immediately furnished me with the standard TAA application; when I completed and returned it to her, she went straight to the computer and in about two minutes was able to verify: (a), that my income is adequate; and (b), that my credit rating is stellar. I wrote her a personal check to cover my deposit and application fee, and thus will be moving, shortly, to a slightly more expensive - but also slightly larger - apartment in the second community. My advice to the management? You have a cute complex in a good location: instead of begging happy residents to post positive reviews, perhaps you should try painting your model apartments, keeping the gates closed, and treating your prospective tenants as if they might be hard-working, respectable citizens.
