Well, I've been here 4 months so far and it's not terrible. It is close to a lot of things and somewhat off the beaten path. The nice feature is that every apartment has a garage. The noise level is average for living in the city. I have insulative drapery which helps keep my utility bills reasonable. Compared to other apartment complexes off of babcock, I would say oakdell way is slightly better because of the seclusion and less college kids. I wouldn't live here forever, but it's decent for the moment. If you're a snob and have to have every little thing working perfectly, this might not be the place for you. I don't put in many maintenance requests, but those that I have put in are usually corrected within 48 hours. I have a 2bed/2 bath that is all on the second floor, so I think that helps with the noise. As far as parking is concerned, everybody has a garage...so I don't know how you can say there isn't enough. I know some places where you have to park 50 or 100 feet from your door if there are a lot of people there. The complex is a bit older, and it looks that way. If you don't mind flat white walls and gray carpet, then this place will work. I don't think any place in san antonio actually uses insulation...in fact, they don't even know it exists. As far as crime is concerned, no place in the city is entirely "safe", but you can look at the SAPD statistics online and reverse search on the address to see what has happened in the past. If you plan on staying in SA for long, but a house. If you have to live in an apartment, Oakdell isn't a bad choice but you should do your own investigating. Don't believe everything you see online! Go out and do your own snooping around. Oh yeah, the only thing that sucks is that the gate requires guests to get out of their car to punch in the code.
