Great for PA students!

I moved here last year to attend PA school at Fort Sam...(graduating in 6 weeks baby!) It's a great location, a 4 mile straight shot to the base, if you're brave you can try biking, but there are a few blind curves that made me too nervous to do so.

A lot of PA students live here, so the staff allows us to hold study groups in the resident lounge after hours. The staff is very nice, there was one management change while I was here and everyone is great. Maintenance is friendly and usually prompt.

Parking can be a pain if you come home after 8pm, there is no assigned parking, although you can pay a monthly fee for a covered spot ($35), I was irritated by that because there doesn't seem to be enough resident parking as it is. After 8pm you would be lucky to find a spot near your door.

This is a great place for a year long stay, the only reason I wouldn't stay here permanently if I was stationed here is because the kitchen appliances aren't all that great. I'm a huge cook and love to entertain, but the quality of the stove, fridge, and dishwasher prevented me from doing that. Well, that and of course the heavy class load :)

Other than the kitchen and the parking, I think this is a pretty good place to live, it's right on 410 so you have easy access to to the freeway. There's a library within walking distance with free wireless if you don't want to pay for it in your apt.

It's close to shopping, but I'm not a Wal-Mart or HEB fan, so this didn't really help me. If you like to cook or enjoy gourmet food, I highly recommend Central Market down on Broadway...they even offer cooking classes which I took whenever I got a chance.

Okay, enough blabbbering. I use this site alot each time I PCS, and I sometimes wonder if only people who have negative things to say use it, so I thought I'd post a positive one each time I move if it was warranted to help give a balanced picture.
