Avoid the corporate unit

Years at this apartment: 2007 - 2007
I stayed in the corporate apartment, and overall had a pretty bad experience. First, the good things: basic maintenance such as unclogging drains is done quickly and well. The maintenance guys are very nice. Also, the dishwasher worked well.
However, I had a lot of other problems. I was quoted one amount, but when I got there, they tried to raise the price, saying that the woman who told me the amount had made a mistake. In the end, they did go with her quote. They also messed up my arrival day, thinking it was 8 days earlier when it was. They did call to see why I didn't arrive, and we straightened it out.
It got worse. When I got to the apartment, there was a guy sleeping there. The woman working that day apologized and didn't make us pay for that day. She asked if we could leave for a couple hours to let them clean. We said sure, but the place was not cleaned. It was vacuumed (though not under any furniture), but the sheets were unwashed, dirty pots, and I mean really dirty, as well as dirty glasses, were in the cupboard. The drains were totally clogged, the garbage disposal didn't work (they did fix that) and the shower curtains were COATED in mold.
They were missing a remote control, the iron, and any sort of bowls for mixing food. They did buy those three things for the place the next week day. But when I complained about the sheets and pots, I was basically told to wash them myself. The sheets were stained, and mismatched with no pillow cases but they would not buy anymore--- they claimed they were brand new sheets.
Anyway, the phone service was cut out twice, and once for a full week. I complained almost every day, but it still took a week. I heard a rumor that the manager is bad about paying bills.
The apartments are old, which I don't mind, but this unit was ridiculously noisy. You may not notice during the day, but at night everything was so loud. There's a speed bump right outside, and the windows are so horrible you hear EVERYTHING (one leaked, but they fixed it on request). In addition to horribly loud air conditioner noises in one bedroom, in the master there were some very bizarre tapping and bumping noises in the wall. I really have no idea what it was, and after a week or two I got used to it but it was a little strange. There are a lot of college-aged kids, which is okay, but in an apartment with thin walls their noise can be disturbing.
