I moved in here sight-unseen from out of state. At first it seemd ok, even if they had failed to mention the monthly pet rent and had made it appear that there was free internet, which was not true. But, I was in a tight spot. Shortly thereafter, they changed ownership and things went steadily downhill. It plummetted after Katrina, when an influx of displaced people came here due to the low rent. There is always garbage in the parking lot and walk ways and overflowing from the dumpsters. It seems like no one cares about the community.

In the 2 years I've been here, my car has been broken into twice. A bunch just got smash-n-grabbed the other day too, but fortunately mine was not one of them. Also, there are stray cats everywhere! I often have to get my car washed simply to get rid of the stench of male cats "marking" my windshield. There are unattended dogs everywhere as well. You'd think that would take care of the cats, but they must be just as dumb as their owners.

Regarding the pet rent I'd been paying ($10/mo for each of my cats), I went down to the office a few months ago to ask a question about it and the new manager informed me that they no longer charged it. I'd been paying $20 too much every month for 6-8 months and they never bothered to tell me! She said they couldn't give me any kind of refund or even credit, but that I could stop paying it. Insane.

Twice, I've received eviction notices for non-payment of rent, despite the fact that I've always paid in full and on-time. After days of missing work and chasing around, including calls to their head offices in California, they finally agreed that it was an office error. No apology for the stress/inconvenience either time. No thank you for being a good tenant - just "Whoops! Our bad.".

The water temperature/pressure is spotty at best. Often, there's dirt that comes out of the faucets and the stains it leaves in the toilet are horrible.

The only reason I've stayed here so long is that I'm a lazy, lazy man. However, I just got a notice that they're raising the rent on my tiny little apartment from $454 to $500. I can do MUCH better than this place for $500. So, I'm history.

Do yourself a favor and stay far far away.
