You know, I am a resident at Palermo and I look at things that are posted on this site all the time and it's one of those things that something happens to someone living here that doesn't get their way and they want to post something mean and untrue about others.
I too, have lived at Palermo for over three years and I am just as happy now as I was when I moved in. The staff is very accomodating and professional. We all have a job and this is what they do.
Palermo is by far not a college community and maybe you need glasses or are looking at the wrong property becuase, it is not a dirty place. You are probably one of the ones that don't pick up after their dog and leave it for someone else.
Palermo is a nice place to live.

It ceases to amaze me that every time there is a truthful statement regarding this apartment complex that there is some idiot trying to sugar coat things. I've only lived here 5 months now, and god I wish I would have only signed a 6-7 month lease. This place is truly the pits.
I put in a maintenance request regarding the broken security gate in the front by the mailboxes. Of course, to no avail, it has not been fixed. This is going on 2 months now. I know it won't stop all crime, but it does act as a deterrent. I thought that this was a gated community!
I have attempted multiple times to get the phone number to their corporate office located in New York. It can't even be found on the internet. You know, all this complaining and writing does absolutely no good except to warn the next vulnerable renter.
When I first moved in my smoke detector was not functioning because of the battery being dead. I couldn't replace it myself because I had no furniture and not even a step stool to stand on. It took 3 requests and 12 days later for something to be done. Isn't that a shame? I should have prorated my rent that month for their inaction of a serious problem. Why do you think I rent instead of owning. Because upkeep doesn't appeal to me. Isn't that what we are paying for?
Let the truth be told,
Signed disguisted

I have lived here two years now and I'm not impressed. As an honest resident I can say that I've had it with management, they are unorganized and never return messages, especially trying to get a hold of the manager which never happens. Parking is horrible here on the other side of the complex. I literally park on the other side just to get home wich is ridiculous. I also have a friend who lives on the other side and she has already waited 3 weeks just for maintenance to come in and fix her problem. So I do think that is not professional at all and it's upseting to me.

Overall, I like Palermo (been here almost 2 years) and I like the office staff. They have always been nice to me, although not the most helpful when I have a concern. But since the new management company took over, the maintenence staff is taking MUCH longer to respond to requests. Average wait is 2-3 weeks for me and that is just unacceptable! The so-called security gate near the mailboxes is broken at least 2-3 times per month. I don't blame the staff for the gate breaking, but they do need to respond quicker when it does. It COULD be worse though: At my previous apartment (listed here, Hint: has the lowest score of all) we had a broken security gate for EIGHT MONTHS and then they just demolished it and left the entrance wide open. No, this is not a "college community" but there are a few residents around me who are horrible. Leaving garbage in the entry way for over a week, allowing their dogs to bark CONSTANTLY, leaving dog crap all over the grounds, and slamming doors when they come and go. Then there are the
"musicians" who actually practice in their apartment until 4 a.m. It gives me migraines. During the past year or so, Palermo has become more and more like my last apartment, which was a HELL HOLE! I hope the Palermo management reads these comments and decides to take action, hire better maintenence staff and deal with the loud, irresponsible residents. Believe me, it does not take long for a nice property to become a slum!!!
