At the end of March my roommate and I received an "urgent notice" electricity bill claiming we owed $75 (this was about 5:30 on a Friday afternoon). The bill continued to say the money was owed by Monday morning and if it was not paid, we owe $125! Three days' notice and a $50 late fee, not to mention the bill had no apartment name or officiality to it at all. Just TODAY I have received another "urgent notice" electricity bill for ONLY april 4th-12th, and it's already $34'' This is also a "pay in three days or $50 late fee" type. These people are very shady and I'll be happy to leave.

I did the same thing and forgot to put electricity in my name when I lived there. However on the paperwork that I did sign it said that I had to change over my electricity within 48 hrs of my move in date. I wasn't that upset since it was my fault, and even more lucky they didn't just turn off my electric without letting me know. At least electricity is on when you move in. Some apartments you have to be responsible enough to turn on your elec. way before you move in or there wouldn't even be any. I don't think it's a bad deal at all, especially when I was the irresponsible one!
