Its all sadly true

When I was scheduled to move in the apt they tried to put me in I walked away. The walls were brown with dirt. Dead bugs litterred the floors and were skittering around in the light fixtures, trapped from the night before. Water dripped from every faucet into moldy tubs and sinks.

They chased me down and said that they cleaned the wrong apt and that the one I was looking at would not be the one I would live in. Well they moved me to a different unit which looked a little better.

Against my better judgement I moved in.

The next morning I was greeted by cold water in the shower (more on this lovely feature later). I opened the back door to get out in the warm air and the screen door fell off. I called the office right away. To this day the door is still leaning up against the building where I put it, the work order long forgotten. I didnt push that issue cause there are much larger hurdles at hand.

I noticed mold in the corner on the guest closet. It started growing and spreading and today, 9 months later, it takes up nearly half the ceiling of the closet. You can hear the water dripping within the walls after the rain stops and wet spots appear all along that area.

My dishwasher was fixed today. The work order I put in about 3 weeks ago was not deemed important enough to get any kind of expediant service.

I asked about the roach problem today to the managment as I am trying to break my lease. The bug guy is supposed to be out here every wednesday to spray our building, but in reality he has sprayed our building less than once a month, even though its the closest one to the stagnant creek which parrallels the apartments. They say they switched bug companies this month. I suggested that they keep both companies on the payroll and double-up on the extermination services. She must have thought I was joking because she laughed.

Back to the water. I know what it feels like to win the lotto. The exhileration of having that winning ticket in your greedy little mits. Its the same feeling I get when I turn on the water and it actually warms above sub-zero levels. If you are a member of the polar bear club you may not mind, but any normal person would not like waking up for work every morning just to freeze your rear off in the shower. Maybe I should play the lotto tonight, my chances of winning are better than the chances of hot water in the morning.

Neighbors..... What can they do right' The neighbors party till 4am every night, yelling and belching in their drinkeness. They perch directly out of the guest bedroom window, which is the room my children sleep in. Yes, I know its a crime against humanity to have children in this place, but I am moving ASAP, believe me. I noticed that its not just our building, but several buildings that have undesireables hanging around outside drinking and smoking the night away. I can party too, believe me, but I keep it in private.

Dumpsters are great. Huge metal containers to throw all your trash in. Not here. At Plaza De Ville the dumpsters are huge metal containers top full and overflowing with trash which you pile trash around like some shrine to Garbage Gobbler. The trash men dont pick up these bags either. Furthermore they wont take the dumpster when its in this state. So bad becomes worse, and worse becomes rotten piles of stinking mush. You see, the apt mgmt has to pay every time the dumpter trucks come and take the trash away, thus the none to prompt service.

The sink in the master bedroom is clogged. It always has been and always will be. It will drain slowly over time, so maybe clogged isnt the right word. Maintenance came over about a week after we moved in and they shoved this metal wire "snake" down in the pipes. It came up with mud and roots! The plants in the area had grown through the cheap pipes used in the construction of the place and were working their way up our pipes. We promised ourselves not to use that sink ever again as to not "feed" the plants, and we havent.

Broken down cars force you to park 2 buildings down.

Really I could go on and probably write a novel about how bad this place is. I am trying to think of something good about the place, but I am drawing a blank. The maintenance guy is pretty nice in general (which is good cause you will get to know him very well) and the rent is cheap as these are THE premiere SLUMS of the medical center area. I have a month left but I think I will pay the fines (since the managment wont allow you to leave even 1 month early, even when your have carcinogenic mold growin in your childs closet) and I will get out now with whats left of my sanity and my health.

Bottom line... it could get no worse than this. Please do NOT move in here. Please.
