I lived at the Remington from September 2006-February 2008, and it was OK for the most part. Good things. Maintenance was quick.
Rent is fairly cheap.
Quiet neighbors for the most part...almost too quiet.
You have a few nice amenities I guess. Laundry machines are an additional sum added to the rent if you want them. The gym exists, but is nothing special.
Covered parking for no additional cost.
Close to a shopping center and Sherlocks Pub (if you enjoy drinking and not driving).
Bad Things. During a portion of my tenure there the gym was only open from 9am to 6pm for about a month or more, which made it impossible for me to get to, as I work. No explanation was given, but apparently someone had stolen some things, but mostly frivolous things because all the equipment and TV were still intact. So, what was once a 24 hour gym, was no more. The hours later were 9am-11pm I think, which is fine, but I do enjoy the late night run.
At some point the stationary bicycle broke, and to my knowledge was never fixed, which sucked as I have bad knees and can't really use a treadmill.
Once the water went off for a day and a half, but it seems that this was out of their control, because other times they had given me warning. It was just bad timing as I had a couple of people in from out of town, who enjoyed using toilets.
Each time I signed a new lease there was some sort of deal where they would upgrade your apartment by giving you a hardwood floor in the kitchen or a free carpet cleaning, and none of this ever happened.
I requested another 6 month lease at some point and they gave me a 12 month lease instead, and being that I had done this three other times, I simply signed it and returned it (My mistake). A couple weeks later I realized my rent had gone up and I was in a 12 month lease, and there wasn't much I could do. This hurt me a lot later, as I ended up moving out 6 months into this lease. Ultimately my fault, but seems like they could have brought it up in the first place or corrected the mistake.
The maintenance guy with the mustache enjoys being a little bit of an ass, often making fun of my appearance, etc when we encountered each other at the gym or mailbox. Not sure why. At least he was prompt with the fixes.
I had my car broken in to. Not much the apartment can do I guess. Aside from putting locks on the gates....or maybe just fixing the ones there already.
Seems as though I got a notice on my door every other day, some bad, some inane, but when it came to something like a gas and water bill procedure change, seems like I would have been informed, rather than charged. I kept meaning to tell them not to put notices on my door for anything other than necessities, because I think they must have used an entire tree on my door.
When handling the lease breaking issues, the manager let out a few "----"s on the phone. I just thought this was unprofessional.
I thought the guy above me must weigh 300 pounds, but no. It's just a small apartment.
There was a creaking in my apartment that happened at least once a day for like 10 minutes. I complained once, but no one seemed to do anything about it. It wasn't too annoying.
None of these things are really that bad though, although getting your car broken into is never fun. Overall it was just OK. Pretty good for San Antonio and for the price. I always felt like I was the only one having issues, not that I ever talked to many other tenants, as everyone mostly keeps to themselves, except for the older folks.
