Listen, I am trying to warn you from falling into the trap that I fell into when I moved here. I needed some extra space for an office, and was between careers and needed somewhere affordable, so the one bedroom and study at this price seemed like a good idea. I knew going into this that living by a strip club, and in such close proximity to Austin Highway and Perrin Beitel wouldn't be luxury, but I kept telling myself that it was temporary, and "wouldn't be that bad." Let me tell you, it IS that bad, and worse. Wow...where do I begin'
1) The carpets were still slighty damp when we moved in, and freshly raked. Once it completely dried we were greeted with many disgusting stains.
2) We saw a mouse in here running through from the kitchen to a closet, and their solution was to leave a glue trap in my kitchen. We woke in the morning to find a still live, suffering mouse stuck onto the trap. We had to dispose of it ourselves.
3) Bugs bugs bugs! This place is infested with all types, large and small. Spiders, ants, roaches, flies, gnats. Yikes!
4) Young residents congregate outside at night drinking alcohol, and bassing cars are an ever present part of living here.
5) My boyfriend found a paper bag with a crack pipe, brillo, and two lighters in the back of his pickup truckbed. When he told management, their response was that they have security to watch over their property, but our property wasn't their responsibility. Not to mention the trouble he would have been in had he been pulled over. "Officer, it's not mine, I've never seen that before in my life....."
6) The coke machines at the pool are always empty.
7) Our ceiling over the toilet started leaking, and eventually a hole formed, complete with mold. We called to report the dripping, and no response. We called when the crack in the ceiling response. Again, nothing. It was only when we mentioned the "black mold" growing did they come out. And their solution' Cutting a hole in our ceiling to remove the crack and most of the mold. Did they ever come back and patch the hole like promised' No. We have had a hole in the ceiling for months....
8)Watch your colors in this neighborhood.
9)Two nights ago was the icing on the cake. A women in a truck asked if we had seen two girls running through the complex, and to dial 911 of we did because they had just robbed Denny's.
10) Everytime it rains mud is everywhere. Parking lot, sidewalks. What a mess.
I move tomorrow. THANK GOD!! This was the worst seven months I have ever spent in an apartment.
If you are military and moving in from out of state- Do not let them sucker you. This a bad and dangerous side of town. Not a good place for children.
