There's dog poop everywhere. You shouldn't walk in the grass because you're almost definitely going to step in a pile if you're not paying VERY close attention.
There are cigarrette butts everywhere. From just around my building here, I could probably get a gallon-jug's worth of butts. Maybe more. We have neighbors who like to throw them off the porch, sometimes ONTO our porch and into my mom's flower pots.
Two out of four of the lights in the breezeway of our part of the building are burned out. My parents have called repeatedly for the last several months to get that fixed, no luck. One of the lights that isn't burned out is missing the cover plate, so it's just an exposed bulb. Also, most of the lights around the complex are out and not being replaced. People have moved out because if this.
They took away the nightly security patrol. There used to be a cop that would take a drive through the complex every couple hours, just to make sure everything was alright. Also, the "security gates" are out of order. Well, the front one was SORT of working the last I checked, the back one was not. The side one has been chained up for more than 6 months now. Lax security has caused the next problem.
Increased crime. There have been many cars broken into in the last year. Much more than were broken into before the new management took over. I've heard about drug dealers inhabiting certain areas as well as women getting harassed by some guys in another area. Because of the lights being out, it's a scary place for anyone, especially women, to walk alone.
A few months ago we had a major garbage problem. The garbage was not picked up for I'd say... 3 weeks. THREE WEEKS. The stench throughout the complex was horrible, horrible, horrible. People ended up having to just pile the garbage on their porches, because there was nowhere else to put it. We think they didn't pay their garbage bill that month.
The pools are filthy. Previous management made sure that the pools were clean enough to drink out of. Crystal clear and no debris. Now there's dirt and leaves and branches coating the bottom of the pools. Not to mention the odd foam on the top...
We've had numerous things that have broken, and if it requires a replacement part they're not likely to fix it unless it's a hazard. Even then, it'll take them awhile. For example, we had some friends whose air conditioning went out this summer. For a full month they called EVERY DAY to have people come out and fix it. Occasionally someone would come in, mess with it, say "oh, it doesn't work", leave, and never come back. After a FULL MONTH they finally got it fixed...... sort of. It would then only come on if it were set to 60 degrees. Not 70, not 65. 60. Too cold for most normal people.
The management that used to be so warm and friendly has been replaced by cold ice. They don't make the residents feel welcome at all, I myself am repelled by them. No smiles, no "have a nice day"s. Just a cold glance and "What do you need". Really bad.
I don't think I need to go on anymore, you get the picture.
