This place is the Ghetto

Plain and simple. I lived there for over 3 years (moved Nov 05) because it was cheap and a place to sleep and that's it. While I lived there. 1 woman was murdered (the security gates never work), there was a meth lab in the complex. Multiple alcoholics and drug addicts. The few good/decent living people there moved out quick. I only stayed because it was cheap at the time. If you have a family stay away. If you're young going to college or a drug addict, then this is your dream home. There's always cars "hanging out" basically they're dealing drugs. I once called security cause somebody was barbqueing upstairs on their tiny balcaony w/ the pit up against the wall! No common sense I'm totally suprised this place hasn't caught on fire yet. On a decent note, security was usually there in a decent amount of time, when you had to call about loud music late at night 11pm, 1am, 2am, on weekdays. That was almost a daily occurence, along with other people living there banging on the wall. During my time there, there were 2 drummers there, both who liked to play late in the evening (come-on just a little common sense about respecting your fellow neighbors. My car wasn't that great, so it didn't get broken into, but there were several who did. Also, I"m not sure if they have pet retrictions, if they did, many of the tenants ignored them. Dobermans, Pitbulls, Rotwillers, one dog almost attacked my family as we were walking on the sidewalk, you just couldn't feel safe, maybe that's why those people had those big dogs too. What else, oh.. I'm currently fighting them about carpet damage. They sent me a $350 bill 2 months after i moved out for carpet damage, on a carpet that was already old and stained when I moved in. I'm no deadbeat, never paid late always documented everything and kept my reciepts and notified them in writing for workorders/repairs, etc and have about a 750 fico for my credit rating average. But from what I've heard, that's kind of the racket these guys play, where they will take little to no $$ down for a security deposit and then try to hit you with bogus fees upon move out.
Finally, the laundry mat was always dirty (the lofts don't have washer dryer connections). People would just take other peoples clothes out of the washers/dryers (granted this was probably because they left the clothes in there a long time unattended and all the machines were full). What else, oh yeah, you can't have anything shipped UPS, FEDEX, Airborne, Post Office w/ signature unless your home all day, because management decided they no longer wanted to sign for delivery packages for it's tenants, plus the hours of operation were horrible, for normal people who work m-f 8-5, you never could see them if you needed to. Their big rennovations were to put these huge speed bumps that ruined alot of cars in there, some bushes and grass and a new noor to their lease office that didn't have a drop slot. (the drop slot's been remedied, but that was the only time I didn't think I would pay the rent on time because I couldn't drop it off. Anyway it's a cheap place to live, make sure to bargain them down to the lowest price. If you have kids stay away.
