When I moved into my apartment last summer, I was never happier. I had a beautiful brand new apartment,which was affordable, and in the school district that I wanted. I felt like I had won the lottery. Not two weeks after I moved in, I was told that the Gov't had set aside about 15 apartments for the Katrina victims. That's all fine and dandy because everyone needs a home, however the lack of enforcement of rules, policies and procedures was just incredible. There were people all over the place at all hours of the night. Fighting and screaming at each other. We were told that there would be a playground constructed for the kids, however that was also something that fell thru the cracks. The pool was always filled with people from neighboring complexes and God only knows where else they came from, but it was less than enjoyable for those who actually live there and pay rent. These people would bring ice chests filled with glass beer bottles, they would bring their pets and babies in nasty diapers, and would all be happening in the pool. This was the perfect picture for an advertisement for Brackenridge Park at Easter. It was horrible! We were also told that this was going to be a pet free community effective May 1, 2006, however it seems like there were more people moving in with pets all thru the summer. I even had one move in across the hall from me, and when they would take the dog out to walk, it would crap in the breezeway, and she would never pick it up. Trying to reach someone after hours is not happening either. When you call the office after hours you get a machine, and if you leave a message, good luck receiving a return call. Although this is a brand new, gated community, this is definitely a place I would NOT call home.
