Ok, let me first say that I wish I would have listend to the reviews I read before moving here. trust me people, these reviews are accurate!! The only people that seem to be giving good reviews are the ones that have "become good friends" and got a "preferred employee discount" Let me tell you my story about this apartment.

My wife and I were relocating from Florida and were looking for a place close to Lackland. We ran accross this apartment complex and saw the pictures online and it seemed great! The qoute we were given was also very reasonable. So we decided to move to these apartments. Just before we were about to move I found out a friend of mine used to live at these apartments and told me to be sure I was in the "NEW" complex.

Well, we took off from Florida and were supposed to move in on a friday so we left on a wed. just in case something came up. Well, we get to the apartments and ask if we can see the apartment. They say sure it is not quite ready but here are the keys. Sure enough we were not located in the complext that was shown in the pictures online. We get to the apartment and the lanscaping around the apartment was dying and the stairs were about to crumble. The apartment downstairs had old moldy clothes outside on the porch and there was an awful smell. We go in and the first thing we smell is cat piss!!! The kitchen looked like it was from the 70's and the closet doors were off their tracks. We said hell no!! So we went back and told them we are not going to rent that apartment show us another.

The first quote we were given was $550 for a 2 bedroom. The new quote for the "NEW" side was $630 for a 1 bedroom. We were in a bind and needed an apartment quick. So we said we will look at it. I was suprised to see that it was really nice. New carpet, new appliances but still kinda small and also on the 3rd floor. So, we moved in.

After we moved in the staff seemed to become rude. Many times I would go in to the office and stand there for 5-10 minutes without being helped. The staff is rude and the office is very uninviting. I could get past the staff since I was not really expecting to deal with themto much.

Come summer time! Well, we found out real quick that the ac does not cool the upstairs apartments at all during the summer. It would run continously and only finally cool off around 4am. We had maintance chek it numerous times and still ended up with a $200 electric bill in a 1 bedroom. This place was begining to be a nightmare. Parking became a problem. We had one covered parking spot and the other was clear accross the other side of the apartment which I might add the person that parked next to me not only parked like a jackass but would hit my car on a constant basis with his door. I also had people parking in my space but couldnt have it towed because guess what...no security that night.

As metioned in other reviews, there is way too much traffic from the mall and stores in the area. Also, if it rains, the street that goes over the creek which is the only entrance to the complex other than the 10 mile drive out of your way to go around floods. It could spit and you are having to take the other road out.

Security is a joke. They do not challenge anyone coming into the complex at any hour. The gates are never and I mean "NEVER" closed. I don't know why they even give out the gate cards. The other day I was in there and heard the staff tell a new tenant that they need the cards cause the gates are closed at night, I just laughed.

So we were there for 2 years and everytime we signed our lease we asked for a carpet cleaning or something. So eventually they put us on a month to month lease. So we decided to leave. One time a maintance guy dropped one of the kitchen lights and threw glass all over our apartment and we had a newborn so we wanted it to be cleaned. It took them 4 days to get back to us on whether they would hire someone to come clean, then told us it would take 2 days for them to get there. What a joke!

So we decied to leave and soon find out, after I spent 5 hours cleaning the apartment, that we are not getting our deposit back. I was furious. The only thing that was nice about the apartments was the apartment itself. Maintance was ok, took them a while to get there sometimes.

If you do move here, do not hang anything on the walls!! they charge you $.50 a hole. So after spending all the time cleaning they still decided to contract out the cleaning. I did everything they asked on the move out ---- aside from plugging the holes and my refund of a $200 deposit was $10. I went to talk to them and these people could care less what you have to say. They were rude and there was nothing I could do about it. They had my money and I could not get it back. I could keep going but I am sure you get the picture. Poor parking, Poor Access, Poor Staff, Ok, maintance, Don't expect your deposit unless of course you are a preferred employee discount person or a good friend of the staff! Forget about the attendant and good luck with you electric bill. Oh yeah good luck with your cable also. Trust me people just find another apartment, dont find out the hard way by not listening to these reviews. There are other apartments in the area that I am sure you would have better luck with. If you do decided to ignore the reviews at least be sure to ask for a qoute on the "NEW COMPLEX" which is 4200 Timberbrook, not 6933 Border Brook. I hope this keeps at least one person from making the same mistake I did. Stay away from these apartments, you've been warned!!!
