I went to view the apartments at this property and all I saw along my tour was rotted wood (balcony and fences) a broken gate and out-dated appliences! This all to me spelled trouble! I took my brochure and dumped it in thier over-flowing dumpster and spead away as fast as I could!!! Oh and there was resident/guest with a police officer standing next to a car with a busted out window! I am guessing this property has seen its fair share of crime!

| As the property manager, I am very sorry you had a bad experience at Sunray, especially with a member of my staff. The type of service we try and provide is top notch and no one should receive anything less. This is not how our company handles our business. I certainly recommend to anyone who faces an issue like this to personally contact a member of management right away to get the issue resolved. It is much easier to take corrective action right away as opposed to finding out about it months later. 4/8/2008 - Sunray is an older community. Some of the issues you mentioned such as rotted wood is a sign of age, not necessarily poor maintenance. We have carpenters on staff that were hired to diligently work on wood repairs throughout the community. Although some of our appliances are older, they are brand names that have withstood the test of time. We certainly replace our appliances as the need arises. With regards to the mention of crime within our community. We have always encouraged prospective residents that voice their concerns regarding criminal activity to feel free to talk to our residents and ask that question. There are very few communities, even people who own their own homes for that matter, that can say their area is 100% crime free. Unfortunately the crime rate can rise and fall from time to time all over town and can affect everyone in the area. We hope you find the new home you are looking for and we are sorry that Sunray was not right for you. | |

Oddly enough, I had to respond to management finding out months later. Nowhere in the review is there a statement when they applied, except in 2007. So how did management know it was months later when the posting of the review was only a couple of weeks ago? Anyway, something as stressful as what happened not being told to the management means employees and mangagement are not connected or talking out of both sides of their jobs -- either way makes one wonder who really runs the zoo.

I can not believe this! I am the woman that posted this review. They never once called me back after signing the application and giving them my deposit and yet they respond to this review promptly??? This is a joke! I wish I would have recieved this kind of service while I was a prospective tenant! Maybe if the Manager was not scanning this website so often she would have some time to get around to some IMPORTANT phonecalls and put her staff through people skills tranning!

I live here now. You really get a great deal for what you pay for. I've lived here since February of 2008 and I have never once seen a police officer in the complex, and aside from kids on skateboards and bikes, there really isn't ever anyone lurking around or anything suspicious whatsoever. Yes, our balcony has some rotted wood, but honestly, for the space of my apartment, I could care less because in reality, if I cared about something as superficial as the age of the complex, I'd be paying well over 200 bucks a month more just to have pretty new appliances and new cheap vinyl siding or fake stucco like some of the newer apartments in the SA area. Seriously, when it comes down to this, I work and go to school near downtown, and now that the 281/410 interchange is open, I can get to Alamo Heights in under 10 minutes and downtown in under 15..and it's all freeway baby. Sunray=Location. I never have to worry about traffic, there's tons of good stuff around (the Super Target and new Alamo Drafthouse will be done any day now). All in all, it's a great complex for the price. Come check it out for yourself and decide before letting a few bitter people decide for you.
