pros and cons....unfortunately more cons

Years at this apartment: 2004 - 2006
I've been living at these apartments for a little over two years and I have to admit that there are a lot of problems with them. The complex is an older community and it has a ton of problems, from leaky air conditioning units to worn out ammenities. If you're trying to stick to a budget, I'll warn you that the electric bill is going to be very unreasonable. I live in a one bedroom, about 500 sq. ft and my bill for the month of july was $293!!!! Neither the office or CPS could really explain it. My air unit is busted. Even dropping the temperature to its lowest and changing the vent every two weeks doesn't help. And if you leave it at a set temperature or even turn it off , you are still looking at a good $140 on electricity. The cable boxes and phone line boxes outside are broken into and wires are hanging out, and yet to be repaired. Maintenance is friendly, but very slow on your request. I've noticed broken windows, and unmaintained patios daily. Landscaping is beautiful by the office, but I guess thats for obvious reasons. Everywhere else its practically mud. The sprinkler system is a joke, almost all of them have broken heads and they just end up wasting more water than actually using it. The sidewalks near my building are always flooded and then covered with mud. Not the best thing, when you are on your way to work in the morning and you accidentally step in it. The back trash receptacle is always crowded with beat up sofas and other large pieces of furniture, which takes weeks to get picked up. The tennis and basketball court lights do not work. Don't let the front pool fool you, that's not a jacuzzi you're looking at its just a mini pool, that was a pretty good laugh. The front office staff can be friendly at times, occasionally snippy. Almost seems like they have thier favorite tennants, but that could be a bias comment. All in all, the location is great, its very secluded, but I'm sure there's something similar in the area with way less problems. Try Fifth Avenue or even Wall Street apartments first. My lease is ending soon and I'm excited to move on.
