Not as great as it looks

The first thing that I noticed when moving here was the parking situation. I have a toddler, so it's pretty critical to me to be able to park near my apartment. Most nights, though, I am forced to "hike it" because there are too few free spaces near the buildings (I don't want to pay the extra $40 a month for a covered space). This is especially annoying when it's raining or very cold. Next, I have been having plumbing problems since I moved in. My faucet in my master bath has broken three times, and now it's supposed to be "fixed" however the heat controls are backwards (if you turn the knob to cold you will be scalded) and the pressure is now terrible (the water comes at at a little more than a trickle). Also, they have lost a small package of mine in their very disorganized mail receiving center. It was a rebate certificate for $50, and I knew that they had it because one of the leasing staff signed for it (I tracked it on UPS). However, they looked "everywhere" for it, and came up with nothing. One month later (after they cleaned up the mail closet) they found my package and sent me a rude note that I hadn't come to pick up my package from their office. When I went there and confronted them about how they were the ones who lost it,, and now I was out $50 (my certificate had expired) they all developed amnesia. Because I truely dread moving, I renewed my lease two months ago. I can say that they only raised my rent $15 a month (I feel this is reasonable, especially for the Stone Oak area). However, the free carpet cleaning that they promised has still not been scheduled/performed. When I call to get it taken care of, they tell me that "someone else" handles that, and I never get a return phone call. The staff is very young and the management is turning-over constantly, so you never really know who to talk to when you have a problem. Finally, what others have said about the gate situation is true. The main gate was broken for about five months, and only fixed about three weeks ago. I am in construction, and I know that it doesn't take this long to fix this type of problem unless the owners (or management staff) just doesn't care. I don't feel like this is the absolute "worst" place to live, but for the money I pay, I am disappointed the majority of the time by the quality of services rendered.
