a pretty facade with no substance

Years at this apartment: 2003 - 2003
When I moved in I was offered a great move in special so my rent is reduced but still more than most complexes in the areas retail pricing. I expected to get exceptional service and quality for what I was paying. The girls in the office are sweet and usually helpful.
The only problem I have with the apartments is that you just don't get what you pay for.
My carpet stunk when I moved in and still does - they promised it had been cleaned well but there was still a huge stain in the middle of it; there are several overspray areas where cheap paint work was done and the patio was riddled with stains in the concrete; both screen doors on the patio were broken; the garbage disposal was broken (and still is after three requests); if I come home past ten o'clock at night I have to park a quarter mile from my unit - is that "luxury'" I don't think so. The two gyms are closed sporadically and the pool isn't available for morning swimming like they told me it would be. I had to request three pest control visits before they seemed to actually work to get the silverfish and roaches out of my apartment.
Maintenance completes my requests but usually with shoddy work that needs to be done again within a week or two.
Even with my discounted rent I wouldn't suggest these apartments to anyone. There are nicer apartments around the area (try Vineyard Springs, where I used to live) who have better management and give more for your money.
Overall I'd say CWS is doing a pretty poor job with Talavera, and that they are too proud of that complex.
The crowning moment was when someone in the complex was shot - it appeared in the news and the papers and was a big deal because this is supposed to be such an exclusive complex. Management sent out one letter the day after saying they had no idea what happened or who did it and that they'd stay in touch about the incident. Nice words, but no action - they didn't stay in touch. In fact they haven't said anything else about it. If I were the manager in an event like that, each person would get a personal telephone call assuring the residents that everything was being done to find out exactly what had happened. I'd also be sending requests to each resident for suggestions to make the complex safer. I lost a lot of peace of mind when that happened - it could have been handled much better.
I have heard from some residents who really like there, though, but they have all lived there for several years.
