Pretty Nice Overall

The Lodge is a nice place to live. My two bedroom apartment is huge and the kitchen is really nice. There are, of course, things I do not like. But, overall it has been a good experience so far. Here are a few of the positives and negatives:
Positives
quiet community--lots of military and law enforcement
great area--convenient to sea world, rudy's bbq and the hyatt resort (great golf)
lots of ameneties:
--big fitness center with free weights, decent machines, treadmills, stairclimber, elipticles and plasma tvs
--gorgeous clubhouse with a theatre (this has been one of my favourite things about living here!)
--a pool table (not in the greatest condition, but still fun to play)
--shuffleboard table
--fuseball table
--large pool with nice pool deck area
Also, the walk-in closets are HUGE!!
My master bedroom is huge as well and the bathroom has a double vanity and a garden tub
Negatives
--the slate tile they charge extra for in the upgraded apartments is terrible--they always look dirty and are falling apart
--most everything costs extra--good carpet, painted walls, upstairs, downstairs, parking spots. Just be prepared.
--the apartments look extremely nice upon first glance. But, many of the features are made made of cheap material or weren't manufactured well. Make sure you really look at the apartment you will move into beforehand.
--Apartment prep is terrible--they seem to just re-paint everything without cleaning or dusting and there is paint everywhere--on the tiles, on the blinds, on the fixtures...it seemed as thought they just hurried to get it done and did not focus on doing a good job
--they charge to use the fuseball table
--the pool is not heated nor is the whirlpool (It gives the impression that it is a hot tub. But, it's not.)
--The gates are frequently broken
--the trash compactor smells terrible and tends to overflow around holidays and long weekends. It's not a very common thing. But, when it happens it is absolutely disgusting
--the dishwasher and washer and dryer are very loud
Overall, I like the Lodge and have had a pretty good experience here. My very few maintenance issues were dealt with promptly and the staff, although they seem to change frequently, has always been nice. The rent is kind of high. But, my apartment is big and pretty nice. I would recommend it to someone. But, I would tell that person to not be hypmotized by the pristine exteriors and to really look at the actual apartment you will move into before moving in.
