My experience at the Lodge

I have lived at the Lodge for 2 years. The first issue I encountered was on move in day when I received a call from the office telling me that my apt. would not be ready for one more day because the cleaning lady was sick. When I finally got in my apt. I found about 30 dead gnats in the fridge and the freezer smelled strongly of fish. The cleaning lady used about 5 pounds of carpet fresh on brand new carpet and I continue to vaccum it up 2 years later. The condition report listed my tub/shower as having spilled paint on it...well it is actually the coating of the tub that is coming off in huge sheets. Parking is ridiculous...so I finally purchased covered parking for $25 per month. I received a notice that I would not be able to use my carport for 1 day while they painted it, so I asked for a credit which was denied although the office staff did admit they would have charged me 1 day prorated rent if the situation was reversed. The last year has been really bad...people having sex between parked cars in front of my bedroom window...condom wrappers near my front door...piles of bird crap all over the walkways leading into the units...rolly polly and grass roach invasions...A/C issues that require multiple visits...smoke detector/sprinkler/fire extinguisher inspections that have required 6 visits because 3 different companines do the work...the entry gates rarely work...and the trash area overflowing although this is due to residents who try to put couches and 52 inch intact tv boxes in the dumpster...and maint. cleans it up EVERY morning to their credit. There is a noise problem because these units were not construced with that issue in mind so there is nothing the staff can do to resolve that issue. They have been painting for several months and they put railings on the first floor patios which were nice additions. The office staff can be friendly or rude...it just depends on who you get. Most of the time the staff is nice to me, but rarely is there any follow through or follow up. My building has a dog that barks for hours at a time but nothing is done about it...but that is more a reflection on the pet owner than the staff. So after 2 lease renewals and a period of going month to month I will finally be checking out of the lodge at the end of my current lease. I'm just tired of apartment living and the mess that goes with it.
