I moved in Nov 05 and signed a 14 month lease to get the cheaper rent. It was a $49 move in with the prorated rent along with no move in or pet deposits.
The apt was flity and hadn't been cleaned from the last tenant. Of course the prior mgmt company was terrible and nothing I could do since I had movers waiting at the gate to move me in when I signed the lease.
Greystar Mgmt took over around Jan 06 they seemed to be getting on top of things for awhile, however they have slipped badly.
Dog waste everwhere, speeding through the complex, trash being put out early and animals getting into it. After about 5 calls to their office and a letter to the corp office they finally put out a notice.
I moved Jan 07 and now they are trying to charge me $400 ($350 for pet deposits that were wavied when I moved in) because the first mgmt company didn't have all the forms signed for pets that they require. Although they've known for 12 months since they took over I have a dog. I've taken her into the office everytime and they've seen me walking her every single day.
It has been 14 years since living in apt and I never had so many problems with a complex before. A ocuple of other tenants I know, that have moved out have been charged unbelivable charges also. And of course if you don't pay them they turn it over to a collection agency to harrass you and report it to the credit beauau. Since they have the upper hand on you most people just pay it to keep their credit clean.

I totally agree with you. Dog waste everywhere and the management really lets us down. They are not helpful at all and treat you as if you were lucky to be able to live there. Recently some of the aircons broke down and they asked all residents not to leave them on when asleep or away until they check them all. And that will take until mid or the end of May!! How can they ask you to do that when it has about 85 degrees outside???? Get if fixed quicker then!!!

If any of you become victims of "rent concessions" please contact me at screwedbymansions@sbcglobal.net. These fees are illegal. If you know of anyone that has been charged rent concessions, please give them this e-mail address. Breach of contract(breaking a lease) people are welcome to respond!

Since posting my complaint in Feb they have since credited me the $350 they were trying to charge me. Of course it didn't come without my constant attention. After contacting BBB several times and the manager Shannon refused to credit I had went around her and had to contract Greystar mgmt a couple of times before someone finally responded. Several emails later it was down to $150 for pet treating the carpet. I was fine with paying that, however I ask for a copy of the actually invoice from the company who provided the service not just a written one they type up with their letterhead. Now you have to realize the reason behind asking for an invoice is because I knew they were going to replace the carpeting because it was trashed when I moved in. Although they said they had to treat the concrete. Funny thing is there is no concrete on the second floor.... DUH!!!! Lucky for me I wasn't born yesterday. They had no choice but to credit for the $150 since no invoice could be produced as that service was never provided to begin with! Its a matter of principal, taking pictures and standing your ground.
