Think twice

We moved in while the complex was own by the parents of one of our best friends. In the time weve lived here weve seen 10 different sets of office staff. They all start out with good intentions and telling us one thing then does another. There are 2 pools on the property; one if not both are always shut down for maintenance. When 2 county sheriffs deputies tell you I dont feel safe living here and Im moving out, whats that tell you. This used to be a complex that used common sense in leasing to people. Now we have section 8 housing in the back part of the property and with that weve had a rise in crime; break ins, things going missing while youre at work with no visible signs of forced entry, parking lot vandalism, out right car thefts, and a parade of expensive cars that have no business in a low rent district. Makes you think twice about living here.
Maintenance is slow to get things fixed. I had to call twice to get the A/C fixed during days where the temperature was over 100 each day. This is an annual problem with the A/C units in this complex. They are old and need to be replaced, but you know that costs money. We have fire ants in the walls and end up having to spend our own money for insecticides to keep the ants out. Sugar ants and Crazy ants are a problem as well as are other bugs. The complex only brings the exterminator in once a quarter and not all the buildings are treated at the same time. Theres a constant problem with broken pipes and when a water pipe breaks your water bill sky rockets. My water bill for my 940 sq. ft apt is higher than my co-workers 1500 sq ft home. Why' No water meters; the bills are generated by a utility billing service and based on some nonsensical formula and how much water in consumed by the complex which includes their sprinkler system, 2 swimming pools, the offices, and any additional water usage because of water main breaks. How residents are responsible for that water usage is beyond me, but we are.
We have had outright prostitution taking place in the parking lots. People smoke pot openly on their balconies. There are families in 1 and 2 bedroom apts with 15 people living in them. We had a sex offender in the complex and nothing was done about it. We werent even notified he was there and his targeted population was girls 14 and under and there are a lot of children in that age range who live in this apt complex.
In closing, were looking to move out of here at the end of this lease. Wish us luck.

I do not agree with this at all. The new office staff has made dramatic changes since they have been here. And a lot of residents would agree with me. I have lived in these apartments even before the new company took over in 2001. As for pest control, it is available to any resident upon request once a week. The pools are not always closed. If one pool is closed for cleaning the other one is open. They also started monitoring people using the pools by issuing pool passes to every resident. And all guest must also have passes checked out by resident in the office. Anyone without a pass will be asked to leave. The two county sheriffs where replaced becuase they were not doing there jobs (as you can tell from the above statments made by this resident). The new manager brought in two new sheriffs. They have cleared out the riff-raff and there is less crime on property. There is crime any where you live no one is excluded from that. The maintenace does come in a timely mannor. And I think they do a very good job. These apartments are older but it doesn't matter how old a place is, things break and malfunction even on new properties. Maintenance is doing a good job on maintaining every inch of it. This property has never run and looked better. You can't find a new property with the landscaping that we have here. Newer is not always better. I don't see why anyone would say such bad things about these apartments when the improvments that have been made are great. Since I have lived here no one has ever taken the time to have a party for us. The current staff had a wonderful pool party with a live band, food and drinks at the begining of the summer. They make you feel appreciated when you go into the office. I feel comfortable and would recomend Trails of Westlakes for your new home. As for the person that wrote this, they should be ashamed of themselves. They shouldn't judge people for asking for help to keeping a roof over their families heads. We are blessed we live in a county that is willing to help out when someone is in need. In my opinion, they must have been some of the riff-raff that was asked to move-out.

I agree with the last statement. The manager and maintenence are always willing to lend a hand. You tell the office staff about something that is going wrong on the property and they take care of right away. Crime is everywhere, even in the best of the best neighborhoods. I see this group of staff trying in each and everyway to correct things and get rid of problem people. Best staff that I have seen in a long time.!!!!
