I lived at the Trails of Westlakes for 1 year as soon as my lease was up, I gave notice and moved. While there I had a hot water faucet leak in the tub, which I reported on my first month there. When I gave my move out notice, I included as I did monthly that the repair still had not been made. Finally the last month I lived there they fixed that. 3 months after I had moved out I received a message from a company claiming to be an attorneys office representing Trails of Westlakes due to me skipping out on rent. They claimed I never gave notice and that I was responsible to pay 3 months rent for leaving without notice along with other recovery fees. Lucky for me, when I gave my notice I requested the manager sign my notice and make me a copy. Which I kept! I have tried contacting them by phone get no response. Today, I went over there and requested a copy of my lease and the paperwork they had me sign on my move out day when turning in my keys which also shows I cleared with the office when I left and they refused to give me a copy. I had been recording them with my cell phone and when the manager again refused I told her I was recording her which made her furious and she asked me to leave or they would call the police. I agreed to leave, I must admit I was intimidated, then thought what am I doing. I have done nothing wrong. So, I went back called the police my self and made a incident report of all that transpired there. My next move is to file a complaint with the Attorney Generals office and file a Civil case against these thieves.
Save your self time and agrivation, dont go for the low move in rate they get every one on. They are going to stick it to you at the end thats why they waive the move in costs. They survive by the ignorance of the innocent who never expect to have a false claim filed against them. I was lucky enough to have requested a signed copy of my notice to move out. I can only imagine how many people they have made these claims against. This is apparently how they do buisness. I am not the first to claim Bad business practices.
Good Luck in your search and buyer beware!

i live in these apartments right now and am DESPARATELY seeking a way out. i typed up a request for repairs today and i am going to go down to the office tomorrow to deliver it to them... my boyfriend bought a small tape recorder a couple of weeks ago to document the noise that our neighbors directly above us keep making... so he's definitely going to be recording the conversation that goes down tomorrow. i've also sought a low cost legal aid and am hoping to hear back from them soon also. i also pulled out my lease agreement and have HI-LIGHTED in detail, all of the parts of my lease that are being violated by individuals OTHER than myself that are an inconvenience and upset in my life, which according to THEIR LEASE limitations is guess what? that's right, AGAINST POLICY.
i'm glad that you made it out... and now i'm just hoping that i have just as much luck. sometimes this place makes me so mad i want to cry and scream at the same time. its just horrible and disgusting how they treat their tenants.
