i came to utsa from out of town, so i didnt bother looking around before signing the lease at the oaks. big mistake!!!! i live in a 2b/2ba and we each pay 530.00 a month!!! i can pay that and live by myself! it is nice being able to walk to school and the cable is included in the rent, and you practically have no electricity bills; but the "high-speed internet" is a joke!!! they are nice except that the filthy carpet turns your feet black and the bedrooms are tiny. The big problem i have is that you have to pay for a parking permit to park at the apartment!! but, you cant park on campus with it; oh no, you have to buy a seperate permit to park on campus! the permit for the oaks is around 175.00!! who has to pay just to park infront of their home''!! and if you dont have a permit, you get $100.00 tickets every couple of days until you do buy one. I got two, and had to buy a permit. Then, when i wanted to break my academic lease and move out at the end of the fall semester, they pretty much laughed in my face. its practically impossible to move out of here unless you quit going to utsa. you have to put in a request which gets reviewed by some group and you pay a $250 fee (which i did expect). they let you know in about 3 weeks! when i asked the girl if me not being able to afford these is a good enough reason, she said no, & that i knew how much the apts. cost before i moved in!!! and if you do decide to break the lease w/ out their approval, you pay the $250 fee, and whatever is left on your lease. I feel trapped!! i want to move out so..... bad, but cant afford to. (p.s. when i had questions about the leasing contract after moving in, they told me it takes a lawyer with a phd to understand the contract!! comforting considering we are all college students!)
